Season’s Greetings!

Hello everyone! Sorry, I am a bit late with festive greetings this year! Christmas preparations took a bit longer than I expected. I know what WA is a truly global community, that’s why I would like to wish you all Happy Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Little Christmas.

I am blessed to celebrate all three and on top of that, December 25th is my Father’s birthday, so it makes it four celebrations really! I inherited celebration of Christmas on December 25th through my partner.

I thought that I’d share with you my childhood memories. At home we celebrated New Year’s Eve, it is the most festive day of the year for us. Dad would pick the tallest Christmas tree which fits in in our living room and bring it home. Then Mum and I would decorate it. We liked to have lots of different lights on the Christmas tree and we would light them every single evening. My brother and I would just sit in the living room and admire our Christmas tree.

Apart from Christmas tree I have fond memories of food such as mandarins and cucumbers. In the middle of winter, we usually won’t get any fruit and vegetables at all, so it was areal treat. Even now aroma of mandarins and pine tree brings sweet memories of New Year’s Eve. Snow and beautiful snow flakes made December evenings even more special. My brother and I watched the snow falling, it was magic. In the morning we would run up to the windows to see frost patterns. Nature is an amazing artist!

Christmas for me is special. it is the time of the year when we come together as a family and spend quality time together. I am always excited about winter and its festivity.

This year Christmas is different. It is in Australia. The weather is hot, there is no snow, people do things differently and I have embraced that. Barbecues, swimming in the ocean…
