If you are like me, I just jumped in and start learning.
Is there a way to learn?
The Learning Mindset
"Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what people do or say. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill."
- Charles R. Swindoll
The old adage “Attitude is everything” is so true. Your Attitude will enhanced your learning experience or handicapped by it.
Thanks to advances in neuroscience and psychology, we can now be certain that attitude, or mindset, as it is often called, really does make a huge difference in success.
I am sure all of us know someone who seems like they can learn anything easily. We envy them. We may think they have intelligence or are gifted in learning.
However, much more than intelligence, they probably have a learning mindset that helps them take on any new learning with self-confidence and gusto.
A mindset is simply what you believe about yourself. This includes your abilities, intelligence, skills and talents.
Although they didn’t have much formal education, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison had ideas and took action on them, believing that they could help others with their inventions. They understood that belief in oneself was half the battle, so they didn’t allow their lack of education to control their thoughts about their intelligence or abilities to think and create.
They had a learning mindset that provided them with the determination and enthusiasm to be curious, ask questions, learn and implement ideas. This is what made them so successful that
they are still household names all over the world.

"Take The Attitude Of A Student.
Never Be Too Big To Ask Questions.
Never Know Too Much To Learn Something New."
- Og Mandino
The learner mindset is also known as the growth mindset. Anyone with this mindset
believe they can learn any new knowledge or skill they put their mind to, with enough studying, research and practice.
In fact, they believe that anyone can do this. The learning mindset is characterized by the following:
- Be open-minded
- Be curious
- Get out of your comfort zone
- Mistakes are not failures, but learning opportunities
- Don't worry about what others think of you
- Be optimistic
- Taking note of feedback and apply it to the task
- Ask questions
- Take time to reflect
- Look for challenges
- Be motivated and passionate
- Believe you have limitless potential
- Enjoy helping others develop their skills and talents
On the other side of the learner mindset is the fixed mindset. Individuals with this mindset believe in the talents they were born with. That is all they have and it isn’t possible to develop their talents further, or they see it as just too much effort or work to do so.
They are the type of people who “rest on their laurels” and want to be praised for their talents, even though they were born with them, rather than working hard to develop them.
It’s easy to see why those with a growth or learning mindset can take on new tasks with ease, while those with a fixed mindset struggle with learning new things.
At WA, All Can Learn. Let your Attitude lift your learning experience.
