There are too points of view on this, keep your personality and private life, out of blogging and just have an Information site, or jump right in and let your whole personality burst through.
Martin Avis who runs the London lunch in London, has an information newsletter in IM and he was telling me that when he started his newsletters, were dull as ditch water. He has a a background in marketing.
Now he tells his reader's what films he has seen in the last week, as he loves the cinema. He has spoken about health issues that have plagues him and his wife. His style is laid back and relaxed just like a conversation.
i would definitely concur concur with Sonja now in today's Internet marketing world the latter style is far more important, as Google does take into account social engagement.

Sonja I love your posts, they are fabulous but you are right I don't need to know what your dog had for breakfast .
Great post, Sonja, and I read the blog too. I totally agree! There is nothing more boring than just reading statements of fact. I want to really connect with my readers, as if I'm actually there talking with them.
This is something that I constantly have to work at, I tend to be more of a tech writer, but, I do consciously make an effort. Thanks for reading the post.
