Do you like AdSense?
We all know what AdSense is.
Is rightfully included in many WA traning materials, and no doubt, is an efficient monetization avenue for many site owners.
But I don't like it :(
Why?
Well, first of all, I don't want to alter the visual unity of my sites with all those weird looking ads. I know, there are certain customization options, but ...
Other reasons?
1. You need huge amounts of traffic to create a significant income stream
2. You only get paid when people click an AdSense ad ... and leave your site! What I'm trying to say: with all those SEO efforts, I'm not ready to give up the visitor in order to generate a few cents.
3. They can shut your account down anytime. Your income could disappear overnight. The most common reason is clickfraud and it doesn’t have to be you clicking on the ads. A competitor can come and click the same ad on your page 10 times a day and you’re the one shut down.
Long story short ... I think that AdSense could be a considerable income source for a well-established website that can generate tens or hundreds of thousands of visitors per month, but giving up those hard-earned visitors for a few cents might be "unhealthy" for average websites.
So here's my question ...
What is your opinion? Do you like AdSense or not?

Thank you so much Zed, it made me think! I’m the person that do not like ads popping in the site while reading. But I’m okay the ads as long as they’ll pay me 😄
Anyways, thank you so much for the heads up...

I agree. I never liked the thought of someone else placing ugly ads(spam?) on my cool site.
I used to make £200 a month from Adsense in the noughties, but now it’s just a few pounds. Google stacked the deck against small publishers. :-(
Here's my two cents worth. I hate AdSense ads that pollute a post! I accidentally found a way to put a small widget in my sidebar and in footer of my websites where I totally forget I have it.
Having said that, I received an email from AdSense last week telling me I had income for the month of September! Who knew!?
So the moral of the story is that I will just leave it in the unobtrusive areas and forget about it. Hopefully, though, I will get more emails like this from them :).

I have used Adsense in the past but never received anything from them.
As far as I am concerned they are a waste of time and space.

:) Straight forward Zed.
I was thinking the same when it comes to Adsense.
It's worth it with huge traffic.

Good points and good reasoning.....I looked at it and couldn't see how to make any real money. Thanks for details !
Thanks for the info. The number 1 and 2 I knew about and considered before and agree with. Number 3 I wasn't aware of. Great to know.

I don't use it because I don't want people to leave my site because of a distraction and not put any time into digesting my post. Basically your other reason number 2 is why I don't like adsense.

I've never been a big fan of AdSense ads. They always seemed distracting. Now that I have my own site, I just don't want someone else deciding what will go on my posts. I hadn't considered that by clicking an AdSense ad a potential customer, that I worked hard to attract, would be taken from my site. That would make reason #3 for not using them.
I agree 100% Nancy.
Thanks for your time and thanks for your feedback!
