Discussions May Go in the Wrong Direction in Forums

I have always wondered why in forums links are used to answer a question. For example, "What is that cat with the tuft on his ears? Links are entered for dictionaries, encyclopedias, wiki. Before I know it I have spent hours reading material. To be sure, I would find out their are many kinds of cats. I probably, even came to a conclusion to my question.

But what if I need, NEED, to know the difference between ohms, and watts? Oh well, I might be spinning my wheels for hours and still be confused.

To be sure, a definition of forum is someplace where a discussion takes place. It is not, it seems, where questions are answered. Do not take any amount of offense to this blog, please. I am just confused a lot of the time and it seems many are reluctant to discuss and arrive at answers.

I think finding one's own answers may point some minds in the wrong direction.

I do explore forums because they end up being very funny. I go back over and over again.

Thanks, everyone, that helps a lot.

I see both sides to this issue, I really think it depends on the question/type of assistance needed. Some people do best with a link, perhaps to a training while others can figure things out with a short discussion. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

The link you offered for the analytic filter was very helpful. I love well written steps to follow.

Eric is correct that training is extensive here. These guys wentto school to learn web design. My cousin was charging 1500 to 3000 for web design. And Carson and Kyle have given us more than 50% web design here. The other is all the html stuff. I'm glad they did it because I used to do it and you have to have the codes. Anyway, people are here to help you. Sometimes it just takes a little while for us to get back to you. There are many discussion boards we can go into. But please ask. Someone will get back with you. We all get busy building our websites and putting them out there.

Thanks for the reassurance, Boots75. I do have to remember that everyone here is busy with their new websites.

Sherry, most people at WA give good answers to questions. But sometimes, answering to a question can be very long and the answer is already somewhere. It really makes sense to add links in our answers so we do not redo what's already been done.

The person that is looking for an answer has its own homework to do. Reading another blog post or training looks to me as very reasonnable.

Forums are not a place to learn to do everything. Training should be used for that. Training is extensive here at WA and everything is shown step by step.

So I consider it normal and hope you will too. After all, when lloking for something, it is normal to do a little work.

It is my opinion and I work a lot! ;-)

Gos bless you.

Eric, I know, but some like to put a link only. Putting a link is saying "Look it up." I would like to read a little interpretation from someone and then link to somewhere else. All I am saying is a little discussion is nice.

Good morning Sherry!

I agree with you on that. Each of us have a role to play. Some people like to do it very light ans it does not help that much. I think they're just trying to get better ranking in WA bet answering those who ask for help.

As for me, I am serving the Lord. So whenever I reply to someone, I try to do it well everytime because I want to please God and really help the person.

I wish you a blessed day!
