Breaking through walls, getting over obstacles

I've had a strange couple of weeks, with some weird things happening. As a Buddhist, I believe that when we make positive choices or causes in our life, we will be met with negative forces or obstacles. Oh the negative forces have been at work in my life for the last couple of weeks. But I've been taking small steps towards my goals recently, and perhaps this is why these weird things have been happening.

I have let things get the better of me and have been in a bit of a funk for the last few days, but I've had some good conversations with people and I realise that these obstacles, they're just here to test me, to see how much I really want something. My ultimate goal is to be in a position to earn good money working from home, so that I can support my family but without neglecting my family. I'm under no illusions, I know this is going to take HARD WORK and DETERMINATION. It's easy to throw our hands up at the first hurdle and think let's just give up. But then we won't get anywhere.

One of the challenges I face is finding my niche. Now, I've been a bit distracted for the last few days so I haven't given it any thought. But this weekend, I'm going to take some time to really think about this. I can almost guarantee that things are going to crop up whilst I am working on this. But instead of letting these things hold me back, I'm going to use them as motivation. For years I've allowed myself to be held back but what I perceived as external things (people, incidents, no money, no time etc). When in reality, the only thing that has held me back is myself. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck behind a really big wall. But it's a wall that I've built which means I have the tools to smash it down or climb over it.

I know I'm not alone in this, as we all face tough times at some point. I'm interested to know what obstacles other people face, and how they overcome them. What things do you do, to help yourself through each day? I use affirmations and chanting and meditation which are all highly beneficial. How do you get through your walls or over your obstacles?

We're all in the same boat Shelley. I use meditation to help me finding the right path too.
I'd say the biggest obstacle is not having enough experience (writer's block). But practice makes it perfect, and I've notice some improvements already.
You might like my yoga site. See it on the bottom right of my profile. I have a section for meditation there. Maybe that's your niche you know. Who knows you could be the one to go to for that? I'm so sorry it's taken so long to respond, i thought I had but clearly I haven't so my apologies for that. I will certainly check out your yoga site, I'm always looking to expand my knowledge in the area of meditation (and in fact, I'm thinking of taking up yoga in the new year).
I think my niche is going to be within the fitness field. It's such a wide area though so it needs to be narrowed down, but I'm thinking along the lines of how the body, mind and soul are linked so meditation certainly fits into this :)
I'd love to check out your list of niches if you're happy to share with me.
