David, pyramid scheme is a business structure. Many organizations all around the world are based on that structure. Basic employee - employer relationship is built on a pyramid scheme. You can't say it's illegal.

what you are talking about here is a Pyramid structure
not a pyramid scheme. There is a difference, believe it or not.

Hi, I kind of agree with Ken. Pyramid structure is referring to any organization like employer employee relationship ( nothing wrong with it). But pyramid scheme refers to: any activities of merely recruiting people for money transaction with no product/services, binary system where there's no way for people recruited can pass over the upline, etc. At least these are some of the criteria of pyramid scheme in Malaysia and it's illegal. Just my opinion :)
