Too bad I"m not more like my AI in doing my work!

I don't know about each of you, but my AI's work ethic has often slapped me in the face. In fact, yesterday, while working on editing a Word document for a new book project, it became very obvious that I was the holdup, not the AI. The AI got right to every task and rarely took more than a few minutes. When I was doing my part, it seemed to take me forever. I know I'm limited by being human and not as knowledgeable, but my redos, mistakes, and rest breaks caused significant frustration. Whenever I was on a roll, I had to stop to answer the phone or a family text message, or the doorbell, or even have my spouse talk to me or go do something. Inevitably, I would be gone long enough for the AI to time out and forget what we were working on, and I had to remind and update it again on where we were in a task, causing more loss of time and more frustration for me.
Its not like the AI doesn't make mistakes that take time to correct, because it does, especially when creating images with text. So many times, I have to have it recreate to solve text cutoffs, overlays, etc. Sometimes I get disgusted and just go back to Phoshop to create them myself. I need to get better at my prompts and setting the rules for image creation (I've set a few that help along with a better naming convention to help organize them). But I still have lots of instances where AI created images are not correct the first try. I had that happening yesterday with inserting created meme images into my book document. I worked for hours off and on- with several disruptioins and start overs, and I stil didn't get the book content finished up. I had hoped to upload to KDP yesterday but didn't get to do that. So I quit, went to my reclinder and started reading a kindle book. I was fed up and knew I would have to wait till today to work on it again. The good thing is I did get more sleep last night than usual, but I was still so frustrated that I didn't start back to work on my desktop and the Word document until this afternoon.
I have to add another reason I am the problem with not getting things done quickly and efficently. That is my curiousity. As I go about my work and see interesting things to check out or research, I tend to go off on these tangents instead of keeping my focus strictly on my task. I juast gof off on a big tangent about productivy apps and wasted time. Don't go look at the top productivity apps right now - it is too interesting and a real distraction.
So, I'll see if I can finish my part of my real task (Word file for book) today and give it back to the AI to finalize for the KDP upload.
Thanks for reading my rant. -Shirley

Shirley,
I can really relate to so much of what you shared here. I’ve had plenty of days where I felt like I was the holdup, not the AI. It’s amazing how quickly the AI can crank things out, while life keeps interrupting us with phone calls, pets, errands, or just needing a breather.
I also know the frustration of re-doing images or layouts—sometimes it feels like three steps forward, two steps back. But you’re absolutely right: the curiosity and the tangents are part of what makes the human side so valuable. The AI might be fast, but you’re the one giving the work its heart and meaning.
Thanks for being honest about the struggles as well as the progress. It’s encouraging to know I’m not the only one who gets sidetracked or has to hit reset more often than I’d like. Keep going—you’re doing great, and your persistence shows.

I can relate; this why haven't posted on WA past couple days. As I am correcting AI mistakes going back to Canva directly making my graphics myself.
You may not be moving as fast as you would like, but you are moving, which is the most important thing. Getting extra sleep is probably doing you good, even if you don't feel it immediately.

You’re not the holdup, Shirley—you’re the heart of the process. AI may be fast, but your creativity, curiosity, and persistence are what make the work meaningful. Keep going—you’re doing great.

Aren't those spouses quite the distraction? I often have to take a break when my wife wants me to do something or even to just cuddle but it is important to do that. I do everything to keep our marriage strong. That is the most important thing. Top productivity app? I better go check that out. 😀😀 MAC.
