I'm over 60 years of age - are you?

As I sat at my computer desk this morning, I wondered "how many seniors, like myself, are building a business online? I'm currently 65 and I became a Premium member of WA at age 60. I'm on my 5th year here at WA.

When i found Wealthy Affiliate, I had been looking for a way to make some extra money online for several years. I had retired at age 53 - a little early because of a bad work situaton and even though I had a decent pension, I was still wanting to contribute and to earn a little more. Finding WA came at a very good time for me. I've enjoyed learning and the community here tremendously and I've actually began earning extra money - enough to pay for my WA subscription each year and support my online habit. I'm still working on reaching my major financial goals, but its getting better each month.

You might think at my age, learning what WA has to teach and implementing it would be difficult. But actually I've had very little problem going through the learning steps and implementing them for the most part. And whenever I did get stuck, I asked my questions within the community and got plenty of help very quickly.

I've grown to love this community and the many, many helpful members who are so willing to share their expertise. I'm met members who have achieved their financial goals and yet stay here to help others.

So, how many of you fellow WAers are over age 60?

And how to do feel about WA and reaching or not reaching your financial goals?

-Shirley

This is so encouraging. I hope that many would see this post and realize that there are no excuses. If we really want something bad enough we will do whatever it takes to get it. I once learned of a lady who got her law degree at age 70.

I just learnt last year of another lady in here 80's got her associates degree and said she is going for her bachelors. If we want it and as long as God gives us life and health we can achieve it. Thanks so much for sharing.

I agree, no reason to stop learning. I dropped out of college at age 19, went into the workforce and had a 33-year career with FDA before I retired. But during that time I took the time to go to 5 more colleges and complete my degree finally in 1990.

Thanks Shirley,
Nice post.

HI Shirley,
I am 61 and have been a member for almost a year. I am still working full time and hope to end that as soon as I can. I am fulfilling my dream of opening a spice store here at WA because I just don't have the physical stamina to run a shop full time on my own anymore. Besides, this is fun! And I can do it on my own time. Maybe we should start an "Over 60 Club!!! Enjoy your day.

Hi Shirley, age is just a number. I'm over 65 and love WA. Hoping to build a good business model to pass down to my children. Deanna

I am over 60 and still going strong. I enjoy getting up early every day to work on my online business.

My mom was my inspiration. She was 64 years old when she and a business partner started a construction company in the middle of a recession (1974). She retired in her late 70's. Today, the company is international in scope with projects in far off lands.

So don't let age hold you back.

Thats a great accomplishment, good for your mom

Hi, Shirley-

I am currently 65, also. I am still working full time. I joined WA a couple of years ago in an effort to supplement my retirement income. Like a lot of people, I don't like how my retirement numbers look.

I plan to reach the goal of building an income through WA, because I still have many things I want to do that I am unable to do while working full time.

Last year I had some limited success here, so I am digging deeper into the training to make this year much better.

Looking forward to seeing your success here.

Lydia

Here's to your having a big successful 2019.

I'm a new member of this club, I've been here at WA for 4 years and I love what I learn and I love working on online business!
Today I can say there's no better place to be than Wealthy Affiliate to learn and to build up an online business no matter how young we are!
Alejandra.

Hi - not quite there yet, I will be 55 this year. I was made redundant from the civil service seven years ago and became a freelance web writer and proofreader. Unfortunately, the government keeps moving the goalposts here in the UK. I should be able to claim my state pension at 60, but now have to wait until I am 66! This is why I joined WA to try and see me through those extra years.

I am 64 and work part time. I just started here. Right now I have a hard time writing content. So far it hasn't gotten any better. I will keep trying.

Yes, the content creation is the hardest thing for me also. However, I keep truckin and eventually, I'll get those 200 posts. -Shirley

Hi Shirley and myhtreebark - what sort of difficulties are you having writing content?

Ian

I wind up staring at a blank page in google documents and that's just how my mind feels, blank. I find it extremely difficult to write anything.

There's probably training on how to write content :-)

Essentially, don't start with a blank page :-) Decide what you're going to review or write about by trawling the web for products and ideas then test for keywords.

Take a look at Grace's Road To Vegas series:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/littlemama/training

It;s incredubly inspiring but in particular, look at the Produc Review ones where she lays out a template she uses for writing.

Hope that helps,
Ian

Ian, mostly procrastination and I tend to start a lot of posts but don't finish them.

the key is to know your niche, then it flows...

You got me again Ian ... myhtreebark???

Grace was like a machine when it came to doing product reviews and her diligence rewarded her with a trip to Las Vagus to the annual WA SAC this year.

Ah, then you need a plan :-)

I've got degress in procrastination. But I keep putting off collecting them :-)

Decide what you're going to write before you start, Do keuword research. Plan the article. Eg, Intro, features, benefits, Pros, Cons, Conclusiosn, etc.

Ian

Not a mysterious acronym :-)

The commenter above who was also saying they had a problem writing content :-)

Ian

Indeed! Grace is amazing!

Er, no word play intended :-)
Ian

I actually got that one. :-)

🤣
