WA Rank

I am curious about something. Since I have been a member here I have seen my rank go from over 160,000 to just over 1,000. I know that Kyle and Carson are ranked at 1 and 2 respectively, so I am guessing the change is a good thing. There isn't an explanation anywhere on the site, so I am not sure how it works. What causes it to change, and what is the benefit of it changing? Just curious.

I see you've got the answer.

How come the rank number in the blue box by my photo doesn't match the rank that is showing in my profile area... is there a time lapse before the blue box rank is updated?

Yes there is about a 12 to 24 hour delay. It seems to vary, but your rank will always shift first outside of the blue box, then the blue box updates about 12 to 24 hours later.

Thanks Corey. You know stuff. :)

No problem, and thanks ;) - I suppose I do :D

Good to see this is still welcomed by most ;)

I would just like to update my response to this after I noticed something today. My rank was 55 in the blue box and 52 elsewhere. I cleared my browser cache and my rank updated to 51 site wide. I think the changes in rank don't match site wide due to some sort of browser caching. This caching possibly delays any real time change in rank no matter where it is displayed.

I can't confirm this, it is merely an observation.

Thanks for the follow up, Corey...

As Robert (@skyhorse) says below, it's about *engagement* with the site and community here at WA so a newcomer's rank often rockets in their early days. It's also often true that the more financially *successful* you become, the lower your rank, as you're too busy earning to engage with the community. I know that two of the most financially successful people in the community don't rank highly, and the majority of us who've been here a while couldn't tell you another Member's rank if our lives depended on it. :) It's always a total tragedy when someone ends up obsessed with their WA rank and like stat watching it can become a hopeless addiction. I'd always suggest you seek professional help or join SADDO if you find you're following tens-of-thousands of people in the hope of a follow-back or are replying to questions on other Member's training in a desperate quest to get another *like* solely to up your rank. I blogged about some of this here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/rich/blog/pied-pipers ;) Rich.

Rich, I am going to assume you are being facetious in the last part of your comments. I asked a question because I was interested. I can't help but see the rank because it is there beside my notifications of when others have commented on other posts I have commented on. It was out of curiousity that I looked at Kyle's and Carson's rank. And I don't follow someone just because they follow me. Anyone I follow is someone I am interested in hearing more from. And yes, I had read that blog entry before. I tend to read other people's blog entries and contributions before deciding whether to follow them or not. Just so we are clear. ;-) Have a wonderful weekend!

LOL, oh, absolutely. Like you, I will only follow people I'm genuinely interested in, I keep all my email notifications on, if someone like Diva B. (@BIS), The Demon Queen (@veronica.l), Baby (@That Helpless Lab Rat) etc. blogs I want to know about it immediately. It probably means I need to defend another defamation suit. :( R.

The benefits of ranking are yet to be revealed- maybe soon...

My understanding of the WA Rank is: The more "active" you are the higher you will rank in WA. The more people you follow, the more followers you have, the more comments on your Blogs, the more you comment on others comments, the more discussions you join in on, etc...the higher you will rank in WA. The higher you rank...the more people you can touch with your activities. I hope this helps you.

That's correct. And the likes on your posts as well really help to determine it. Your understanding is accurate grasshopper!

It does, thanks, Sidekick.

I thought the same thing. But this explains it. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/carson/blog/wa-member-rank-update-explained

Thanks for posting the link, Skyhorse!
