If Today is the

First Day of the

Rest of Your

Life... How will

you spend it?

For me, I plan on living life as if it's the last day of my life as well. This is not easy to do when you stress too much about how your action are perceived by others. I am trying to change that. I have finally figured out that life is too short to "sweat the small stuff" as the saying goes.

This weekend, I promised myself, along with beginning the "Your Own Domain, Your Brand" training here at Wealthy Affiliate, I would start blogging here. I set the goal of publishing two or three blog post, beginning on Monday (today). So far, so good.

I spent the entire weekend working on my other website. It is a vegan recipe and review site that is not hosted on the WA platform. I may transfer it to this platform once my hosting plan comes up for renewal.

I began the site about 10 months ago but keep telling myself that it is not, quite, ready to publish. It has been a slow, agonizing process of getting it ready but I can now begin to see the end in site. This week I plan on adding a few (3 or 4) recipes and about the same number of reviews. I still have yet to finish my "About" page, though. I have to overcome severe "impostor" syndrome to finish that but I am hoping to have it live by the end of this week.

Working on the other website and adding content to it has allowed me to use Yoast Seo, and I love it.

I tend to write long paragraphs and sentences, which is not good for readability online. I am a creative writer and creative writers tend to want to add a lot of flair to their writing. This is not great for the average reader. To me, writing shorter sentences and paragraphs and words with no more than two syllables is akin to "dumbing" things down. I know you want to write for the masses but it is hard for me to write different from how I speak. Using Yoast has helped significantly with that.

I am hoping that I am not setting too many goals, as I tend to do, because I am also working on a recipe book to offer free to subscribers of my other site. Trying to keep busy to keep concerns of the lock down, the current pandemic, and joblessness at bay. Here in California, we haven't even begun to open up the economy. I have been hoarding as much of the extra unemployment I have been getting as I can. This should be enough to help for a few months.

In the meantime, my creative spark has never been better. Maybe it's time to dust off that old manuscript I set aside a few years ago. Could that be overkill?

That's a great post, thank you for sharing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I think you SHOULD dust off the manuscript, Sandi!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff. I have been thinking about it for a while. Now that I have more time on my hands. I could probably write three novels before California decides to open up for business again.

And you really should, Sandi! I'm constantly working on some literary work in one of my series!

Jeff

Great goals

Thanks. I've decided to start with small goals. I have a tendency to be an all or nothing thinker. That's how I quit smoking ions ago. I just decided to quick, threw out my cigarettes, and never looked back. The fact that I was pregnant at the time helped a little.

Great post

Thanks, Dorrie. I am hoping if I do the blogging thing, post to the sites I'm working on, and post to Vocal occasionally I will keep my momentum up.

Great post-Sandi, I enjoyed reading it and I don't know if you're doing too much considering this lockdown and all. Perhaps if anything you may want to set some priorities, building your WA sites first perhaps, that is I mean completing the lessons as such. Those vegan recipes sound interesting, but I must admit I am a big meat eater, but I love my veggies. All in all your post was very interesting, I look to reading more of your stuff. To me, every day is the start of my future, what I do counts.

Joe

Thanks, Joe. I'm glad you enjoyed reading. Setting priorities sounds good. That's not one of my strengths but I'm trying. The lock down has given me a lot of time to reflect.
