How I Pitch to Pet Brands Professionally (Even Big Ones Like Purina)

Pitching to pet brands can feel intimidating, especially when it's a well-known company like Purina.

I have learned that professionalism matters more than follower count . Brands don't just look at numbers . They look at clarity , alignment and how you present yourself.

Here's how I approach it:

I Research Before I Reach Out

Before I start pitching, I make sure that I understand the brand.

For a company like Purina, that means:

  • Knowing their product line.
  • Understanding their target audience.
  • Identifying which of their values aligns with mine.

A generic pitch gets ignored . A tailored pitch stands out.

I Lead With Value, Not a Request

Instead of asking "Can we collaborate?" - I focus on what I can offer.

I include the following:

  • A small introduction to my pet and my niche that I am focusing on.
  • My audience demographics.
  • Engagement rate- both non-followers and followers alike.
  • Examples of the types of content I upload of my pet.

Brands want to know how working with you benefits them.

I Keep the Pitch Clear and Concise

Long emails don't help. I include the following in my pitch:

  • A short and simple intro.
  • Why I love the brand.
  • A specific collaboration idea.
  • Link to my social media profile.

Clarity signals professionalism.

I Make the Collaboration Idea Specific

Instead of saying that I want to work on XYZ content with them, I do the following:

  • Suggest something like a feeding routine series in partnership with the brand.
  • A product review with educational tips.
  • A give away campaign.
  • A seasonal content concept.

Specific ideas make it easier for brands to say yes.

I Follow Up Professionally

If I don't hear back within 7-10 days, I send one polite follow up.

As a reminder with 0 pressure and guilt, but fully interested. If I don't recieve any news or feedback, I move on and consider them in the future.

I Understand That Timing Matters

Sometimes a brand doesn't respond because:

  • Their budget is allocated.
  • Campaigns are already scheduled.
  • They aren't onboarding new creators.

Rejection isn't always about value.

Consistency in pitching matters more than one yes or no.

Pitching professionally isn’t about sounding big.
It’s about sounding prepared.

When you research the brand, communicate clearly, and lead with value, you position yourself as a collaborator, not just a content creator asking for free products.

That shift changes everything.
