Need Some Help with my New Blog

I have some questions about my new blog, Easy Technical Blog.
Here are my questions, answers to which would help me better my blog:

1. Does the domain name easytechnicalblog sound good? Is it very long?

2. Are you able to remember this domain name if you want to come back again to my blog the next time?

3. Does the blog header at easytechnicalblog.com match the site's description and is it catchy?

4. The main page at easytechnicalblog.com is a static page and for reading the blog posts, one actually has to click the link called "blog" in the top menu. Is this cumbersome for visitors? Should I instead have the blog on the main page? I saw that the Home page gets far more number of views, compared to the Blog posts page.

5. I have widened the main content area of the blog as well as of other pages and changed the area taken by the right side widgets. I've also reduced the left and right side margins. As for me, I like wide content area, but I don't know whether visitors to my site would like this idea.

Is the content area okay or should I lessen it and increase the right side widget area and the margins to the default?

6. Also, because of the above change in content area, the header looks smaller. Should I increase its length too?

7. Would adding a text sub-heading to the header image (Under the words 'Easy Technical Blog') look good?

8. For me, when I click any "Page" from the top navigation menu on the blog , a black flash is seen for a split second, which seemed distracting. But speaking to a customer support at my hosting provider, I was told that they weren't able to replicate it on their side.

Can some of you please check whether this problem is visible from your end and let me know?

Thanks to everyone for their help and comments.

Hi Resni, Congratulations on getting your blog up!
It looks good but may I make a few suggestion from my visual background?
easytechblog is a combination of 3, 4 letter words I think that would be simple for people to comprehend and remember. But there is nothing wrong with your choice.
The second row of red headers is a little hard to read maybe if they were a little larger and/or outlined in white,
I feel that you have a lot of good knowledge to share, and people are looking for info.
People look for different knowledge at different skill levels.
Giving an indication of what skill level(s) you can address would get peoples attention.
Maybe you could put some questions at the beginning that might help people to find out if you have the information they are looking for or can get and give it to them.
Things like: Are you looking for..?
Do you need to know how....?
Find out ......... here.
Where to get....,
What is a......,
..........for beginners.
How you can.........easily.
___....easy steps to......
Easy....... .
New tricks for.......
maybe a heading under Easytech Tip of the week!
A good rule of thumb when teaching is First, Tell people what you are going to tell them.
Second, Tell them
Third, Tell them what you told them.
Good Luck, you have gotten off to a good start. Now if I could only get my own off the ground.

Thank you lakshimishome, for your beautiful tips. I'll surely change the color of the sub-heading to may be white. And will also try to include what all you suggested, on the main page. It's shorter than what Kyle suggested (400 words), so I need to add to that page anyway.

Thanks for your suggestions once again. And if you have any questions I can answer or be of any help with, send them my way.

Do not see the black flash. I like the name, but it really does not explain what the site is about. The term Technical can cover a vast amount of topics, and I had to read into about half the home page to see what the site is about. You will not keep people interested long enough to get them to stay unless they know what you are about right away. I am a firm believer in using the side bars on WP blogs, as in the niche you are in there is so much you can use the bar for, like related products and ads. The blog tab is fine, and yes I would add a catch phrase under the header. This would be a great place to further explain what the site is all about. One last quick suggestion, you need to use images and even videos to keep people interested. You have a great start here, and these are just my opinions, hope they help!

Thank you Shawn for your helpful comments.

I don't know how I got the flash problem, but I had tried using other browsers too and still it happened. Recently I tried changing the theme but then again went back to the theme I was using - Pagelines' Platform. Now, after the reactivation, all is fine.

Yes, I think I did a mistake in getting the domain name, though the name sounds good. I have updated the header image and added a subheading in it. So, hopefully that should help. But, people won't be able to make out from the domain name itself, what it is really about. You're right that the term technical is a broad one.

I have put all that I could, on the right side bar, except for the monthly calendar. What else should go there? There seems nothing left in the widgets to add to the sidebar. I even have secondary and tertiary right-side bars but they are empty due to no additional widgets to add. I'm waiting to increase the traffic before I go for ads.

The homepage got nearly a hundred hits till now and the posts on the blog pages are just in the 20s and 30s. That's why I was considering putting the blog on the homepage instead.

I've started using a featured image along with each post and it shows up only on the blog page along with each post's summary, though not on the post itself.

I've thought to do 2 posts per week at this time, but these kind of tutorial posts tend to become long or take quite an amount of time.

About adding videos, I'll be adding YouTube video links and embedding the videos, but do I need to use my own videos? I've never done a video yet, though it shouldn't be difficult and I know there's a tutorial here on WA on doing a video.

Kind Regards,
Raspal

You can have your videos made for you quite inexpensively. See training here at WA on this.

Hi rseni , about the name of block i think "easytech " will be suitable.
