Getting 50 gigs of Backup Space at Box
Updated on 10 Feb, 2013:
Here's another one from Box, double the previous storage - 50 GB of online space. Get it before the promotion expires. It's just sponsored by Dell but you don't have to have a Dell computer to be able to sign up.
I'm fond of backing up data and writing about backups. That's why there's a series of backup posts coming up on my blog, http://easytechnicalblog.com . Yesterday I read that box.com was offering a 25 GB free account. It's not clear as to how long this offer will remain, so I registered for the free 25 GB account.
Previously I have used Dropbox and IDrive which both give 2 GB and 5 GB respectively, but hadn't used box which also gives 5 GB of storage space from their regular free signup page.
Like the other two services, free users can also download the Box Sync application that automatically syncs everything in the local Box folder on your computer, to your Box.com account.
Box also has all other goodies like file sharing, in addition to many online apps for viewing different types of files online from within your Box storage space.
I'll be testing Box.com in the coming days and will update here. If you want the free 25 GB Box account, go to https://www.box.com/signup/o/25gigsforgameday and signup for a free account.
Hope this helps someone needing more online space for backups.

Need to know a good back up for my music with album art in it. I have used bounceback with great success in past. Also, I need something to restore my computer in case it majorly crashes. I have two discs when I got my computer. One is a System Repair Disc the other is a Factory System Image disc. Any suggestions? Scottyb2good
Hello Scotty,
Since I haven't ever backed up my music collection online yet, I'm not really aware of such services - my music needs are quite different.
You may be able to repair your computer using the System Repair Disc. But if you restore the system with the Factory System Image disc, note that you'd lose all your custom installed programs, data on C Drive etc.
Checkout these two posts (written by me when I worked for xpdrivers) about Drive Imaging and How to use EaseUS ToDo Backup for imaging your hard disk partitions:
http://xpdrivers.com/backup/overview-of-disk-imaging-programs/
http://xpdrivers.com/backup/how-to-use-easeus-todo-backup-for-disk-imaging/
In the coming days, I'll also be publishing some more disc imaging tutorials on my blog http://easytechnicalblog.com on how to do it step by step using some more free programs. So, keep an eye on the my blog.
Hope that helps,
Raspal

I just want to follow up on Reseni's response, Disk image backup software is a great way to ease any kinda data loss.. however there's one limitation. What if that drive that you keep the image on fails... or worse yet... stolen. That's when a Service like mine, Cloudneighbourhood [dot] com comes in really handy because once you create the backup you can then push that to the service and then it's safe you just need to download it when your system fails.
