Checking In : One Year at WA!
I don't post anywhere near enough on this great platform but wanted to make a quick offering reflecting on my first year here at WA.
The first thing I want to say is I wish I'd found WA ten years earlier! I feel my life would be very different today if I had.
Why?
Because I can see this is working and I know if I keep plugging away there's only one way it can go. My Google search console confirms this.
Barring any major corrections from the big G, if I keep publishing then my traffic will keep growing.
I also want to be realistic...
This is definitely not a get rich quick scheme. It takes time to do this properly.
I still work full time for the other man and have a family to consider so in reality I only get to spend 1-2 hours a day on my WA business.
But I've been consistently posting at least one article a week. I've managed to publish 60 articles in my first year; nearly 85 thousand words so far. I know that's small time but I'm pretty proud of that.
Results?
Well traffic is still low volume but the graph is moving ever in the right direction. I haven't really monetised apart from the odd Amazon link so no income as yet but I'm waiting until the traffic is significant before I think about the money!
Just focussing on building that foundation at the moment.
A year in and I feel my domain is now gaining some authority in my niche. It's quite a crowded niche with some well established competition (I see the same sites all the time in my research).
6 months ago Google didn't want to know. Hardly any articles in the top 100, let alone the top 10. Today, I'm hitting page one on Google maybe 40% of the time.
As for Bing ... endless #1 positions. Nearly every article I write is at or near the top on Bing!
These results encourage me to continue. I'm excited to see where I am a year from now!

I have been making time early in the morning, falling out of bed at some unearthly hour to write content. I find that my mind is fresh in the morning, unpolluted with the day's events.
I need to take it to the next level and start targeting slightly more competitive keywords now the authority is building. I've been hitting the very low hanging fruit and so very low traffic.
But I have proof of concept, which is all I needed :-)
Very excited to see what the next 12 months bring ...

Sometimes it's tough finding the motivation but I know the only way to fail now is to quit!
Unless there is some event like a SE penalty, every article I publish has the potential to increase traffic and any article could be the one which hits the traffic motherlode!
