Call for Ambassador Protocol
Following the post by cybridge It has come to my attention that those who are Ambassadors in the community get blasted with pm.
First let's take a look at why they are Ambassadors.
- They help people by answering their questions and concerns
- They are active in the discussions
- They are active in creating content for the community
Secondly they are doing this on an voluntary basis. Meaning they are giving their time to help.
In conclusion I noticed the other day when I was going to PM Kyle that a message popped up that said have you tried to ask your question to the community first as it may have already been answered for you.
Not that they wouldn't answer your question. It is just very time consuming to answer all the questions from PM and continue to do what it takes to be an Ambassador and keep up with their businesses.
By searching your question you can save you time from waiting to get an answer from a PM.
So should having members search their question be proper protocol before they PM an Ambassador? Or am I off base here?
I guess I started my conclusion a little early. :)

I always try to ask in the discussions after the training or search bar. Then I go to live chat. I have only PM Kyle once because I couldn't find the answer. I always leave that as last resort.
most things procedural in relation to WordPress are on Google, and most especially You Tube or via search on here...although we love it here, and form attachments and build trust it does not negate other sources, or our polite responsibility to try them first...
Or to put it another way let's all start with the basics as wearily suggested by any one of the 3 techies in the iconic IT CROWD- "have you tried turning it off and on again?" KISS (acronym not an offer)
I know Kyle and Carson remain really busy which is why I do my best to find answers on my own. I also have other resources from a couple of other people here on WA so that helps. I want to be able to learn enough and then more to be able to help people who are new to all of this...and it's a LOT. My eyes tend to go all over the place but I do my best to focus on one new thing to learn every day.

I agree with you especially if you are new. There is so much info we overwhelm ourselves and look for someone to calm us down and point us in the right direction.It took me a little while to even know there was a search bar even though Kyle went through it in the first video.
Hi Rod....I agree with you. But, I am also guilty of a PM or two. But, it was personal for me (specifically) and there was no answer in discussion. So, I would always try to answer my own question first. If I could not...I would go to discussion, chat, or maybe even PM another member. We should be thoughtful, considerate and respectful. Yes Melanie I agree we should always try to find the answer first, however with a personal question I believe it is ok to PM because they are our mentors.
People here within the community should absolutely be using the search first and foremost if they are looking for help.
There are 10,000's of discussions and training resources that cover such a wide breadth of topics and that are very active, the answer that someone needs is likely there.
We have invested a considerable amount of resources into improving the search here at WA and it is actually quite good and should be the first point of contact that those that need help reference...but can also be a great reference library for those that are offering help and can point people in the right direction. :)

Thanks for taking time giving the community an answer to unanswered question. Will this way people can now have sort of assurance that we are not alone here.

After watching training here and I do a search in the search bar here for an answer, then if I couldn't find it there I would go to chat. But, before I would go to Kyle or Carson...Message or PM the person who you enrolled under! I feel they have a personal responsibility in helping someone since they are making the money off of them. Then if all else fails I would go to Kyle or Carson.
Like you Sherion, I always enter my question in the search bar, trying to find answers that way first.
