When It Seems You Can't Get It Right

A few days ago I was letting myself get so discouraged because it appeared as if my site was busted and my domain name was useless. I asked site support, question after question, (God Bless them because I was such a nuisance) and every suggestion they were giving wasn't working. Yet they were so patient with me and still worked to find a solution. As it turned out I had somehow chosen a theme under WordPress out of WA's 2900 + themes (for Premium). In hindsight, I had wondered why it said 7000 to choose from, I ignorantly had thought "oh it must have upgraded since that video." So because of using a word press theme that was supposed to be purchased, when I tried to move it to my domain, it came up with an error.

Chat To The Rescue

What gave me finally an indication was in chat. I noticed someone saith they had chosen a theme that wasn't compatible with WA setup and chose a different one and then it worked. So I looked at the bottom of each page/post and where the copyright was, I noticed where it was saying under Kyle's videos of the website with the name of his site.all rights reserved, it was stating WordPress.all rights reserved on my site. So I deleted all the sites (Thank God I saved my Post/Page Templates in Content!) and started all over again, being sure to pick the same example theme Kyle picked, followed the steps again and VOILA there was the name of my site.siterubix.com.all rights reserved, moved that copy to my purchased domain and it cleared up the problem. So the answer was there in the comments folks were having back and forth.

Don't Give UP

So I have to say that if you're are feeling discouraged that you are doing it all wrong or that you just want to give up from the frustration...DON'T! Just ask site support, or the box at the top of the WA dashboard that says "Need Help -----? Ask your question here, or just start reading the conversations people are having and you will most likely find the answer (I know that last part sounds a bit stocking like; but Hey if it gets you an answer).

A suggestion I would like to add; if you are new like I am, and you are just learning how all of this works, when you watch Kyle's video of starting your website and he gets to the theme part, choose the one he does in the example. That way you will have the right set up and after you can always customize it with your own images . This way you won't accidentally do what I did!

Great post, thank you for sharing.

Thank You sir!

Good advise. Way to stick with it until you found the problem and fixed it. That's what it takes sometimes here, is taking everyone's input and putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with a solution. I know I have had times when my problems seem insurmountable, but the support here has gotten me through my issues. Isn't it a huge relief when the problem is fixed and you can go on? Good job and keep doing what you're doing!

Thank you! It sure does!

Thank you Robert for sharing your experience. Well done on solving your issue. Good to hear.

Thank you, I'm glad I solved it! I love the community here, there is such a wealth of knowledge from all over this site!

Great information Rob. Glad you found the solution. Thank you.

I hope that it’s able to help someone else who might come across the same thing.

All this is about learning. Learning takes time and when solutions present themselves we are much stronger and won't make the same error a second time.

Very true!

Something new we all learn each day. Makes this very interesting yet frustrating at times, I know! Site support and the community is awesome! Glad it worked out.

Robert, had to smile at some of this because I could relate to it. Doing the SAC I have had to put my logo at the top of the page, on the theme that I have used for nearly a year it failed to load, went back to training used the site that Kyle does, and guess what it works.

What a run around Robert, at least now you have it sorted and have managed to pass on something that may help someone else. Good luck keep moving forward.

Having been practically every day has been very, very educational and I have learned quite a bit still learning thou till I finish these classes.
