The Little Engine that Could

Do you all remember the story of the Little Engine that Could?

For those of you who don't, or don't quite remember, it's an old children's story that taught the lesson of optimism and hard work.

One engine was stuck taking it's load over a mountain. All the bigger and stronger engines made excuses to stop and help. The smallest and probably weakest engine was the only one willing to assist.

This little engine believed in himself. He believed that with effort he could assist the engine over the hill. He tried and tried and eventually was successful.

My Thougts

On reflection, I see WA as the 21st century version of this story. WA has opened it's arms to all of us to teach us the lesson and value of optimism and hard work.

Hard work via all the training, knowledge and wisdom that is available. Optimism by the many stories of success that show us that YES!!!! IT CAN BE DONE!

Thank you WA for the lessons and thank you WA Community for the support and optimism.

What ever mountain your little engine is trying to overcome, know that we at WA are here to spur you on and get you over that challenge.

Do you have any stories you'd like to share about your WA journey that speaks to this story?

I'd love to hear from you so drop a like and post your story. I'm anxious to hear from you.

I read it as a poem many eons ago. The little train reached the top of the mountain huffing and puffing just because it thought it could.
We can exceed our set goals if we believe we can and put in the work day after day.
Thank you Roberta for drawing that similarity between the little train and every affiliate.

This story seemed to rekindle a lot of positive memories for WA members. I'm happy about that.

More importantly I agree with you Dada, we can exceed our goals if we believe.

Thanks for adding value with your comments.

The day I stumbled on WA Roberta I signed on believing that I could do it. The problem however was that I was sick. The cause is not important at the moment suffice to say that aside from that there was much going on.

In the second week with WA weighing heavily on my mind I got out of bed and decided I was done with being sick and everything else too. I had a business to start.

It wasn't easy either. The money for it wasn't there. I'd just spent all my savings on a plot of land. With that think I can attitude I made it happen. I paid the first month's fee then I paid the yearly fee one month later.

My screen saver and my desktop has been turned into my vision board to remind me that I will do it. My business goal is written there in one sentence.

I know I can and I will.

The blogs are always a great motivation to me. We will grow weary. Rest if you must but never quit.

Great post.

Awesome

Ohhh I love that Candy. You and Simone have awesome stories of inspiration here.

The major takeaway is deciding that "you can and you will".

I am so glad I have positive ladies like you guys in my life right now.

I always enjoy it when you come over to chat :-)

We love to chat with you too Roberta.

We are taking you on this journey Roberta. One way or the other. One on either side. To the top we go.

Candy Benn

Good for you Candy! Very proud of you! Keep on keepin on! You got this!

Thank you Steve. You can do it too.

I don't know if you remember Dennis the Menace comic books, but I always took hope in those stories. Dennis was a good kid always in trouble for doing the wrong thing and trying too hard. I felt the same way so I related. Kind of silly, but I always identified with Dennis the Menace.

Jim the Menace? Well, his heart was certainly in the right place Jim. I'm sure yours was too.

Candy Benn

I definitely remember him. Always up to mischief. His intentions were good though so I guess you identified with the best in him

Hi Roberta, I think that old story still gives us the inspiration to keep on going when the going gets tough.

All the best,

Michael

That's right Michael. We just all need little reminders along the way.

Nice hearing from you.

I really love that story Roberta. My story is that I've always wanted to be both a nurse and a teacher and I was told in Jamaica that I could become one and not both.

I don't like roadblocks put in my way and the explanation was not enough of a ruj8eason for me

When I came to England and I saw the wonderful opportunities, by then I was already a nurse.

So I trained to become a teacher, then a psychotherapist and now I am an entrepreneur.

I am now the The little Engine that did

Your life story is truly a testimony to determination and success.

You have so much to share Simone and whether you realise it or not you story can and does uplift many of us.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Roberta. I shared something with a friend recently and she was saying the same thing
I'm now thinking of writing a book and having a charity as well
If there's one person's life that can be changed from my story, it would be awesome.
Thank you for your ongoing support of me Roberta.
I do appreciate you

I love it!!!!!! you have my full support for this :-)

That's fantastic
I will let you know more :)

You certainly are. Who teaches the nurses Simone. I'm sure it's another nurse. A senior one? That's how you do both.

Candy Benn

Not that teacher Candy. NY favourite subject is Maths. That's what I want to teach
And now I am a Maths specialist

Awesome. Congratulations on achieving your dream

You're welcome

Simone I have new found respect for you ....MATH????

I like counting money .... math is something different altogether ... hahahaha

Yes, that is my passion.
I walk maths, and do everything Maths
I love the fact that all of my kids are the same as well
