These Were The Days My Friend ...

As a DJ of some 25+ years now, music has always played a big part of my life ...

It's something I still do now from time to time and have always loved how music makes people feel emotionally. It can brighten up your, or make you feel sad -

Lyrics in songs can sometimes make us stop and think about the world and make a connection ... Here are a few lyrics from Those Were The Days by Mary Hopkins ....

"Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same"

Everyone can have their own interpretation of these lyrics or words ...

It got me thinking about our blogs that we're all creating.

At the end of the day, we are trying to make that connection with our readers, but how do we go about that ?

We have the same power on our blogs, as songwriters do with their songs ... To make a connection, to make people feel some kind of motion or literally just to entertain.

Build that bond with your reader, by partaking a little bit of information about yourself, to let your readers know WHO the owner of the website is ... What you do for fun ? How many kids you've got ? Where you've been recently on holiday ?

We have the power with our blogs, to be able to connect with our readers, evoke emotion and most of all, let our visitors get to know us a little better. Don't be a faceless web business owner ? Let your words express how your are feeling and let your passion come through in your articles.

Put pictures of yourself on the web (not the naughty ones haha), and let your visitors put a name to a face and make that connection.

Are you brave enough to stand behind your web business and say this is who I am and here's what I hope you will benefit from today, as a visitor to my website ?

Can you relate to this at all ? What are your thoughts with adding your pic to your site ? Are you making an emotional connection with your visitors and have you given a little piece of yourself to your visitors, so that they can learn a little bit about YOU ?

I'd love to hear your thoughts ... Please drop me a comment below - Thank you

The power of the written word, allied to beautiful music is like an out of body experience........Totally liberating our minds and bodies..Capture your thoughts in your own personal journal, when these fleeting moments occur.....

Thanks

Hi Rick, Agree you have to relate to your readers. But some people have valid reasons for not posting photos, just as they have for not using their real names. Some work for oppressive companies that take dim views of online presence, who don't want every comment scrutinized and analysing for motives. This way they can be free, be themselves and have a bit of themselves that their place of work cannot take a piece of,

I know everyone may have different reasons for not doing so, which I understand - Circumstances sometimes dictate :(

I have my picture on most my pages, i don't like to...but i think it helps to put a face to the words, even if it's an ugly one.

I'm no oil painting either lol ... But for the same reasons, helps put a face to the writing

It took me a while to post my picture. When I asked the person that got me into WA about my site, he told me I have to put my picture up so people can identify with me, so I followed his instruction and did it.

I have my picture on more than one page

I have posted pictures of me and my girls from time to time. I absolutely do agree about relating with our readers and I need to focus on that more. I tend to get too worried about writing proper and technical and not natural. Thank you for the post. Certainly points to ponder for me.

I have my picture on my "About Me" page. However, some folks may choose not to put up their pic for legitimate reasons.

Ade

me too!

I have my pic on my blog. No, not the cute baby pic, she is my granddaughter lol I want to make sure I make the connection with my visitors. I think it means a lot to them.
