YouTube is Demonetizing Accounts

Here's a quick heads up that YouTube has just come out with new policies on videos and is Demonetizing accounts, especially related to death or implied death.

I was hoping the MikenRickOutdoors wouldn't fall into that category as we do show hunting videos, and sometimes we do show the shot and the buck afterwards, but I always put "Warning" comments up, even on the thumbnail, so people won't accidentally see something about hunting that they don't want to see.

Well, it looks like they have demonetized our YouTube account. I'll have to check into it more but it looks like it has happened.

This is just a heads up for everyone to be more careful about your content and the policies of the companies that impact our businesses.

Comments welcomed, as I try to not to let this effect my day.

Rick

Everything is censored nowadays and it has got to the point where we don't have freedom of speech and even our FREEWILL is been taken away from us.

You have to be extremely careful not to fall into the racist card because they will twist anything nowadays.

Hypocrites considering most people eat "MEAT"

Your are correct.

One thing I have always told my kids is no matter what anyone puts in your way, we will always find a way to be successful.

I'm working on getting this resolved with YouTube or will be making some changes to the YouTube channel. What really irritates me though is when everything is set up correctly and moving well, they come along and make changes that can get you in trouble in the future.

It's crazy, but I would still rather deal with this than driving to work everyday.

Rick

As a former computer teacher I agree with rules about what people see or run into on YouTube. Some of my students ranging in age from 5 to 13 would confide in me about stuff they saw online at their home that upset them or gave them nightmares and it was always the violent content towards animals and people. I'm an adult and I can't handle seeing animals hurt or killed. Algorithms make mistakes and suggested videos can land in front of the wrong audience too easily. Sounds like your camping videos are the way to go. 🙂

Well, you may be right, but I think our society is becoming to sensitive. Everyone in the past had to hunt and farm to stay alive and everyone from the youngest to the oldest understood what it took to stay alive.

Now we have executives living in glass castles in the sky telling people what they should or should not see. They are wrong and we have gotten to far away from people understanding what it takes to survive in this world.

I apologize for getting to serious here but there are to many educators and not enough farmers and ranchers and someday people are going to realize that college professors don't have any idea of what it is like to survive in society when it all breaks down.

Rick

Rick, I have no issue with people hunting to survive. But there are very few places left in the world where the only option for dinner is to go out and kill it. What's online is gratuitous and unnecessary.

I don't think we're on the same wavelength regarding this topic and that's cool. It's what makes the world interesting.

Have a great day 😊

That's what I like here and other places where people can share their opinions without being enemies. I personally don't like to hunt and would rather hunt in a grocery store, but my buddy does like to hunt and fish.

I have already told Mike this evening that we need to talk about the direction of this particular website and consider my opinion that we need to focus on the camping and 4-wheel off road content.

Personally, I like my HikingEmergencyBeacon site that focuses on how to get help when outside of cell service where I care not about what people are doing in the outdoors, only that they can communicate and get help if they need it.

I don't agree with many opinions of some people in this world, but I do respect other's opinions and hope to always have a respectful dialogue, rather than a knock down brawl.

Thank you for letting me know how you feel.

Rick

That Hiking Emergency Beacon site sounds great. Too many people get lost in the woods without any way of communicating with the outside world. I hope it takes off for you. Regards. 😊

Thank you. It is an extremely engaging site with a lot of people coming to do research and then buying the satellite communicators.

I have about 820 subscribers on YouTube and it's growing fast, but I can see from the analytics that people actually stay around a long time, reading the articles and watching the videos.

If I had to pick one of my Websites/YouTube Channels to focus on, it would be this one.

Rick

The cancel culture and all their sensitivities could bring us to the point of needing to hunt food to stay alive. Wow. It leaves me feeling quite helpless.

Yah, I'm with you. There are some things that are hard to fight, but sometimes we can find ways around those roadblocks. Keep up the good fight and stay positive. That last sentence was meant for me.

Rick

I'm not too surprised, they needed to do this. I know there were some crazy video shown of hospice nurse showing death of a patient that's demoralizing the person’s dignity and it's against the HIPPA laws to do that, so they banned her account. But she does her own acting to show what hospice patients go through weird to seen on IG and my YouTube feed. I'm hoping TikTok will follow suit. I understand their views but if you guys get hit, you can change tactics not to show those content. Animal lovers may be affected by it. I know I was traumatized by seeing animals like dogs and horses as a child on a farm being shot to death this was long before the rules changed about euthanized animals. Back then they used hunting rifles, uncle shot them. I hope you guys can adapt the videos to comply with YouTube’s rules.

We’ll figure it out, even if I need to remove those videos. The good thing is we get way more interest in our camping videos.

Thanks for the advice, and I am very aware of the hostility towards hunting. Personally, I prefer to hunt for my meat at the grocery store.

Rick

The new rules came out a few days ago.
It also includes swearing in the videos in the first 8 seconds!!

Yep! I forgot to mention that. Thanks.

Rick

I'm so sorry to hear that you have been affected by this, Rick. It's good of you to give the heads up for everyone else here on WA so thank you for that.

Maria

I’m glad to pass along helpful information and we’ll adjust to the rules. If you don’t adjust, you probably will have a short business life online.

Thanks,

Rick
