Here's How My New Years Day Went

My New Years Day was relaxing but not by how you would think. There was no football, only some outdoor hiking with a camera, followed by some relaxing time by the fire, working on my website, followed by some awesome family time.

The Hike

I decided to put some action into my New Years Day this year. I headed out to a trail close to my house to field test one of my satellite messengers. It was a little cloudy with a chance of snow but it was a perfect day to test my Garmin inReach Mini 2. To my surprise the test was a huge success.

Back Home in My Study by the Fire

I headed back home with some great video and new information to give to my viewers on YouTube and visitors to my web page. It was really easy to write this article and it was nice and relaxing as everyone in my family was just chilling out for the day.

My wife realizes now that my online business is actually becoming successful and I overheard her talking to her dad about a lot of the things I'm doing. It was really uplifting because she was not very supportive in the past when I started all of this at Wealthy Affiliate.

I was able to get the article written and also had the video edited and processing before the sun went down when my daughter asked me to come and hang out with her and talk for a while. We had a great time together, but before dinner was about to begin, I asked her if I could have 30 minutes to upload the video to YouTube. She was cool with that so I was able to get that part taken care of before dinner.

Dinner with the Family

After uploading the video, my wife and I made dinner together, while talking with both of our kids. It was great to hang out, having some food and listening to some relaxing music.

This was an interesting night because my daughter really wanted to talk about some decisions she needed to make in life and again, she and I were able to talk for several hours in the living room in front of the fireplace.

It was starting to get late and I knew my wife wanted to watch a movie with me, so I asked my daughter if we could finish the conversation over breakfast tomorrow. She agreed and actually hung out in the dining room behind us as my wife and I watched a movie together.

The Snow Began to Fall

It truly was getting late now and I let the dogs outside and realized the snow began to fall. I told my daughter about the snow which lead to one of the coolest times I have ever had with my daughter.

My daughter asked me to go outside for a walk, but it was about 11 pm and I said "You've Got to be Kidding Me!" But she wasn't kidding. I asked her if we could just go outside on the deck instead.

We put our boots and coats on and went out on the deck. We didn't talk much, but just leaned over the railing, peering out into the dark night as the snow was falling. We talked a little but mostly just hung out together in silence.

She told me that this was a moment she would remember forever and she wished more families could spend time like this together.

What an Incredible New Years Day

I may not ever be able to beat this New Years Day. I was able to get some incredible work done with my website and YouTube channel, while relaxing and having an incredible day with my family.

I could never ask for more out of life than what I experienced today.
