Time to give up ? . Naaah

So just a quick post, for fellow Newbies like myself. So I am about 6 weeks into the journey here at WA. I have already made plenty of mistakes. I started 2 sites at once, really worked hard, and then burnt out a bit to be honest. (The Wrong Niches?)

I regrouped. I have put the first two sites on hold and started another site, of which I truly am happy with and am able to add posts and the other info it needs each day, and I intend to stick with this through to the end !

So, I am working on the Organic traffic, but in the meantime I am ok ...ish for funds so I thought I would do some PPC and just try and get some traffic going.

I am running some Bing Ads, the keywords are good? but not much action yet unfortunately.

I also did a nice little Facebook boosted post, which started to run and get some action but FB decided to ban it ! - OK so I regroup again.

I then wanted to add some affiliate links to the website, that would really suit the niche, one being John Lewis (Big Dept Store in the UK) and Shopify - Guess what - both rejected !

So I regroup again, I know its going to be a bumpy ride but one wishes, it would just be nice to get a bit of break, in these early days.

So I will carry on............... Yes of course,

My intention? - Get the site SO GOOD that Shopify ask ME ! if they can be on the site - How good would that be.

NEVER GIVE UP - All the best Richie

Just a PS, started on Twitter, dont forget this Peeps ! - I think it could be really good. You can actually add your website link in a tweet, and they dont want $50 to do it !

Power through! You can do this! I am having to readjust to learning the content as I've hit a few snags there. But, anything worth having requires work and perseverance! I appreciate you sharing your story as it really is encouraging to know others have struggled as well, but are still working at it. I know you will be successful!

Thanks Jay, I keep looking at the clicks in Google Analytics and getting depressed ! It's a bit like when people keep looking at their phone, I must stop haha

Yes, don't give up, of all Social media, Twitter is terrific for sharing any link, you get suspended on Vimeo, g+, fb for nothing

Thanks Loes, Yes I found Twitter actually refreshing ! and they were not trying to screw the Dollars from me !

This actually explains what many of us have felt at some point and time.
Glad to see you are sticking with it.
Just think, like I have heard many times here, success could be just around the corner.

wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated

I was there about three years ago. I gave up and quit at six months then rejoined two weeks later. Now my site has about 400 posts on it and is making money. All I can say is the first year is building your website and don't think about money or paying for extra this or that. You have to give your site time to mature and write quality content. If you just write quality content you will get organic traffic that converts. Best

Thank you, sage advice !

You'll be able to make it, just hold in.
I suggest downloading an app called "Amino" on your phone and find a community there and share your website there, make sure to be respectful to the rules there though.

It has been a great help for me, so you can try it out for yourself.

Sounds good, did it result in any conversions?

The day before I decided to do it, my user count per week increased by 2000%, that was last week, it has increased by more than 50% this week.
But this week hasn't even ended yet so who knows how what will happen till the end of the week.
The trick is to try across multiple communities and try to get it featured, don't put more than 2 posts there per day.

I would appreciate hearing from any small business owners out there!

It is really easy to burn out, I reckon a lot of us have done it!

Glad you are keeping at it, because giving up can be devastating.

I gave up once on a site, within 6 months of closing it down the niche boomed, I could have been in with a chance - until I QUIT - never again.

Good luck

Thanks Steve, I knew a guy that could have been in, very big at the start of Vaping (not my thing but I get it)

He said it would never take off !

Interesting. That's my niche, actually. I haven't worked on the site much and not sure if it's the right one for me but still taking some action here and there, right now to see how I feel about it and see how things go. Who knows?

Hi What do you think about this "Heat not Burn" type of Tobacco product. Apparently it is huge in some countries?. I am in the UK and it has not taken off yet. I bought some Domain names to cover it. You never know. I could not get heatnotburn.com as it had gone, but I got heatnotburns.com - and the co.uk version.

Apparently this is much safer than actual smoking? but they would say that, I suppose

That's a new one to me. First I've heard about that one specifically.

However, that does remind me of a new kind I heard about a few months ago that doesn't use coils, called the U-Cig. I've not looked too much into it yet, though.

Have you heard of that one?

Maybe good for you to look at the Heat not Burn thing, apparently it is HUGE in Japan and Germany? etc, and taken over from Vaping? may be good to get on the wagon, before it starts to roll. I looked at it, but there were no affiliates or anything to get into about a year ago, but things change. I believe Philip Morris are pumping a fortune into it. Apparently it has been around since the late eighties, but only now has taken off in certain parts. Not heard about the U Cig thing though, wonder if it is an off shoot ? -

So good luck with it all, Rich

Well, I know vaping has created a whole new world beyond just helping people quit smoking. That's for sure. And I'm certain it will continue to rise in the years to come.

Thanks for letting me know.

Reach out with any other tips or questions.

Don't know anything about vaping, but on reading the other answers I get it now.

It sucks big time to give up like that, but, hey that's life.

You just have to move on.

I'm working on a small business idea. Since I am new here, is WA a good resource for online business support?

What type of business?

I did the same, started a website that wasn't sustainable. Eventually you learn enough to get better at it. I'm still not making money, but at least it is moving forward!
