Showing your website link on WA profile?
How do people feel about adding their website link to their WA Profile?
I do. I feel it just shows what I am about.
To tell you why I am writing this post, I asked for a review of my site yesterday through WA and got some very direct feedback. The lady who wrote the review did mention some positive things which was great, but also some negative things that gave me much food for thought.
I quote,
"Are you aware that your ad "Build a Free Website Here" doesn't work?"
It does, the link goes straight to Kyles Page on WA where he builds the site.
"It's all a bit impersonal, your name isn't mentioned once and you don't have an "about me" page. People like to know who is the face behind the site, makes it seem more trustworthy"
Agreed, there is not an About Me page, but I mention myself and my name through several of the posts, with my full story of how I got here.
"I have to say that your grammar is dreadful, practically every sentance has a mistake in it. I guess you are trying to be chatty and friendly, but it doesnt look very proffesional"
This surprised me, but I will look at my writing and see where I can improve. My Reviewer is a proofreader and freelance web writer, so I take her word seriously.
I think it would have been nice of her to actually mention some of the sentances and tell me how they should be written? in the true spirit of pay it forward on WA? but there you go.
Anyway, each to their own. Now getting back to my point. I looked at the profile of my Reviewer and I can see she joined WA in December 18, has written 2 posts on WA and does not include her website.
It would have been really helpful for me to see her website, and learn how a true professional does it?
What do people think ? show your website or not?

First of all Richie, glad, you asked this question as it is very important for many including longtime members as well as newbies.
I will break it down to 3 parts
1)
Apart from having Site Comments where members can comment on the actual post created we also have Site Feedback which seems you requested for your website.
The is a great way to see how others think or feel about what they see.
Asking for feedback is just that as long as it is giving with constructive criticism which is this case I feel was good.
It might be a case of tough love. but I am sure it was very helpful as the intention was to help you improve your website presence to the rest of the world.

As for the other thought with adding your website to your profile, this is, in fact, a no-no.
We are not allowed to display our website or any links on our profile or even is a WA blog post.
IT is considered as spam which can lead to having writing privileges revoked for a certain period.
I have attached Kyle's link on that for you to read further on the rules so you are aware of them and have a greater understanding of the Rules here in WA. Spam is a NO NO! If you wish to display your website for other's to see then there is a provision on the right-hand side under your profile called "follow me on:
Here is where you can show your website(s) along with any other social media sites you are part off.

The third part you mentioned about this lady is that she doesn't include her website.
This is the members choice if they wish to display their website details or not.
There can be many reasons which we must also respect regardless of their reasons.
This can also include with the fact that they may not even be aware this can be done.

We can display our websites on the right side bar under our profile. This is the only place it is OK to display it.

Hi Richie,
Just my opinion. Nothing personal.
Since you were asking for feedback, you got it. Regardless of the seniority of those who gave their feedback, I opine you have to take it as feedback. Not necessarily you take it as true as you have your own opinion on the items discussed. If you think it's worth it to take a look, go ahead and make some adjustment if that qualifies for rectification. Otherwise, you may leave it as it is. However, it's good to have second opinion though.

If you read my profile You will see I have strong views on integrity.
It is an option to display websites. I do display one of mine. I would love to display both of mine but there are some dishonest people on here just as there is in the whole world.
But I suggest that you look at this person as a very unhappy person with her own issues. She can’t be happy so she takes it out on others.
You can’t change her. Although I would love to make others happy they have to find happiness within themselves.
So it is our choice to take feedback like this with a grain of salt, so to speak and move on.
Yes it is hard to do when we want to believe the world is good.
You are awesome and will do well. Keep keeping on.
