My disappearing ranking mystery
It's been a while since I have written a blog post here but for the last couple of months, I've been dealing with an interesting problem.
I thought it might be interesting to write about and document some things I'm going to experiment with.
For the last couple of months, I've been facing this problem. Some of my posts just randomly disappear from Google Serps.
At first, when I asked people they suspected that it had to do with Google updates but the disappearing doesn't line up with the dates Google rolled out its updates.
This is a screenshot of Google Search Console with the orange line representing my position.
As you can see, around the 15th and 21st my pages disappeared from Google.
Most of the time when this happens my mind goes to 5 things.
- A manual penalty because of black hat SEO
- Content goes against Google guidelines
- Accidental blocking my content
- Website migration
- Crawling issues
Since nothing indicates that it's the first 4 points.
I think it has to do with crawling so from today on I'm going to try out some things to see if I can improve crawlibility (if that's an actual word).
My first experiment will be creating content hubs to increase internal linking.
Let's hope it has some results.

A lot of these things change daily since Google is always changing things all the time, Rogier!
Jeff
I don't know. I have had this website for years and this has never happened to this degree. It also only happens with specific content that ranks 4th or higher.
We'll just have to wait and see how you fare, my friend!
Jeff
Either way its n entertaining experiment.
You bet it is!
