If I'd have to start from scratch again and learn affiliate marketing what would I do differently?

It's a question that keeps popping up in my mind lately.

I haven't taken a good look back at the process I went through in a while but I do think there's a lot of value in doing so.

This is why I thought it'd be nice to share some of the things I would've done differently during my affiliate marketing journey.

1. Invest in a proper affiliate marketing course

Before I started at Wealthy Affiliate, I'd try to make a blog without any training. I thought I could manage just by watching YouTube videos and blog posts.

You can learn a lot this way but often you're missing 1 essential thing...

I remember applying all kinds of this without knowing if there were previous steps I missed. A proper course takes care of this problem.

I was cheap and because of that, I wasted a lot of time I could've been spending on learning affiliate marketing the right way.

2. Focus less on earning money, and more on improving the craft

Money pages are an important part of an affiliate website but creating hundreds of money pages isn't magically going to make you rich.

Affiliate marketing is a skill that you can get better at. At least once a week look back at what you have done a how you got there.

Ask yourself:
Is there a more efficient method for doing this activity?
How can my actions have more of an impact?

The money will come that much quicker if you adopt this mindset.

3.Watch more live classes

Most of the roadblocks you encounter have probably been addressed in the live classes. I knew this but for a long time, I didn't take advantage of all these expert classes.

They're a game-changer especially when you feel stuck.

4. Create a content calendar

Structure is everything in my opinion.

Make a list full of post ideas based on keyword research with the help of Jaaxy and start putting them in the calendar.

By looking days/weeks/months ahead you can manage distractions and other commitments easier without it affecting your momentum.

This is something I should've done from day 1 but started doing it in month 5. It felt like a whole new world opened up for me when I started using a calendar.

Did wonders for my work/life balance.

5. Review a bigger variety of products

Dependent on your niche there'll be a variety of products that you can review. I limited myself to only 1 type of product for months because the reviews were quick and easy to write but none of them came close to ranking.

Try to review all types of products in your niche even if the reviews take more time. Most of the time the things you want to do the least, are the things that have the most effect.

Final Words

I truly believe that I would've seen results that much earlier if I did these things. If you're new to the platform I hope you can find some value in this post and don't make the same mistakes.
