Marie Harel in today's Doodle.
Google honors Marie Harel in today's Doodle.
The French cheese maker became known to the world as she was the first to make the famous Kamamber cheese, with the white casing and the intense smell. French cheese is from the Normady region.
Marie Harrell was born on 28 April 1761 in the village of Orne in Lower Normandy, northwest France. The cheese got the name of the village and for this reason the cheese museum, which has a shape of cheese, was created in the village. There are also the "Ferme President" and the Bemonsel Museum, which was the home of Marie Harel.

Thanks Rebecca for this post. Only one little remark: Camembert is from the Normandy, as are others. But not all French cheeses do come from the Normandy only.
