Introduction

Good Evening to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

The late hour this week is due to the fact that I have been somewhat busy today, what I have been doing is somewhat irrelevant.

In some ways this week has been fun, also very interesting for a number of reasons.

The Past Few Days

The detail which follows is in no partiular order, rather what I can recall, at my age that is a miracle in itself!!

On Tuesday my Daughter took me out for Lunch, I did wonder what she wished to discuss, but that in fact turned out to be just a pleasant lunch and a walk round the garden centre where I used to work, this has improved in leaps and bounds since I left (no comments please!!)

I have been getting concerned recently with the large number of emails that I have been getting, been away has not helped, in fact I have only just cleared those which were awaiting my return.

This has led me to doing some rather deep thinking about how to control and sort out my inbox, as a result having searched hrough my files, I have come across some ideas which hopefully will aid me in coming to grips with my problem.

Have done some work on the garden, have moved the rocks out of the way ready to prepare the ground for the rock garden. Whilst I was in the store noticed a Rose Arch, thinking that it would be OK for my clematis decided to buy it, however on having another look around the plot, have decided that in fact two roses would look good at the end of my middle path with the new arch. The clematis I will train up some trellis by one of the fences.

On Wednesday I received six dozen perrenial plug plants, they are only baby plugs, but I have labelled them and potted them on. Just got to get the garden ready now! Whilst I was walking round the garden to night noticed that my three lilacs are all showing colour, all different which is great, I have a pale blue, a mauve and a lilac, which is great instead of them all being one colour.

Have spent the last three days at the cricket, this has done me a lot of good chatting with friends, I find that I do need to chat alot hese days, possibly due to living alone these days.

On the way to the cricket today went round a bend and heard a clnking sound from the car, got out and found that my exhaust pipe was trailing on the road!! I was very lucky that a car mechanic stopped to help, as a result he took off the box and pipe, so I was able to go to the match and also get home, I now have a visit to the garage tomorrow.

When I got home I had some work to do with regard to both VE Day and some events that have been organised, which as President should attend.

Paid a visit to my Optician as I need new glasses, so that will be more expense, good fun spending money is it not.

The Next Few Days

It is the last day of the cricket tomorrow, then I am not quite sure what I will do! The car is a priority, but hope to get some work in the garden done as well.

On Thursday I have arranged to attend the Air Training Corps to discuss arrangements for VE Day with the local Branch Chairman.

Next Saturday I will be attending the Poppy Appeal Prsentation Evening at the Branch where I am now the President.

Will also look at some work on the business,, like I said it is great fun.

Be Happy, Healthy and Wealthy.

Please do take care and stay safe.

God Bless,

Stuart

Variety is always fun Stuart! Happy to hear that you have been mixing things up a bit!

I draw did seem like the only result after tea today... still unbeaten and second in the division though!! A slight improvement on last year already! :-)

I did stay until the end as it was great just basking in the sun on the Balcony, did only drink water and tea, with lots of sun cream on!! Cannot believe the difference this year due to the Captain I think, he inspires the team.

Sounds like you enjoyed a fantastic four days out Stuart!

Can't believe that you needed too much sun cream in April in Derbyshire though!!

We have thunderstorms rolling in now so I must look after my pup as she is absolutely terrified of them...

Speak again soon my dear friend and do take care ok! :-))))

I know that it is April, but the tan is coming along nicely!!

Did enjoy the cricket, they used the hybrid strip!!

Take care,

Stuart.

Keep on working on your tan Stuart... I know very well what English summers can be like!!

It's 27°C here today, which is too hot for me already!! :-)

Well VH,

It sounds like you've been busy!!!!!

Unlike you, even though I live alone, I don't like going out and talking to people. I guess I'm antisocial (lol). I love having the quiet to work on my projects. I guess that's because as a child, I had to entertain myself. Having said that, I often do have to go out and interact with people and it's fine yet I am anxious to get home as well.

I DO miss lilacs. My dad used to grow all kinds of flowers and trees. He had different shades of lilac and white ones. It's my favorite flower smell!!!! I don't think I've ever seen mauve though.

Don't you HATE when thinks go wrong and you have to spend money on things that are NEEDED. The car, glasses and in my case this week, inserts for my shoes. The dr determined that I have ruptured the tendon in the arch of my foot and it needs to be supported to further the damage. I know I've been pretty hard on my feet with the shoes I've worn but still $500 for these things also hurts!!!! They don't think my insurance covers this cost either. Grrrrrr.

So, your duties as President has started. It's good that you have so many things to keep your mind busy right now and I'm happy to hear your daughter just wanted lunch and to visit. That was nice.

Well, I better go get my grass cut. I'm not happy about starting that this year. I used to love cutting the grass but now it seems like a chore although not worth paying $35 for someone to cut the small yard that I have. I also need to plant my blueberry and raspberry bushes. I've never done anything like that so it will be interesting to see if I can keep them alive long enough to bear fruit.

Have a great week!!!!
Always
Your VW

Hi VW,

What a lovely long reply.

I had to smile when I read about you being anti-social, before Yvonne died I was quite happy doing my own thing, but now I like company.

At the moment I have Andre Rieu on the TV, it made me think of when we went to dances and Balls, the first time that I did a quickstep with Yvonne, she told me off for taking too long steps.

We did love the Mess Balls, Yvonne in a full Evening Dress, and me in my Mess Kit, such happy memories.

In addition to the car and glasses, I have a large dental bill to look forward to as I have two appointments in May for some major work.

Your cost for the insert seems high, but as you say everything goes up.

Just had a thirty-minute break as the chap who is organising a concert that I have to attend has been discussing the final details with me. That should be fun as I am acting as Parade Marshal for the Standards, so need to wash my white gloves.

If he weather holds intend to work on the garden tomorrow, it is treat time I intend to open a bottle of Malbec.

Have a great week, take care.

As always,

Your VH.

Hi Stuart,

It sounds like you are going to have a busy week. You'll have nice weather for the cricket today, so I think you'll enjoy today. And the weather should be good for the next couple of days at least, so you'll be able to get on with a few jobs in the garden.

The car will need to get fixed - definitely not my favourite kind of job...

I don't have any lilac trees, but I really enjoy seeing so many of different colours in various neighbours' gardens.

Have a good week. Enjoy as many of your activities as possible.

Isabella

Hi Isabella,

The weather has been great for the cricket, lots of drinks and sun tan lotion, should mention that the drinks were non-alcoholic.

Took the car in first thing the garage are on the case, just the cost that I am waiting for.

Hope to spend a lot of time in the garden tomorrow, as I have so much to be getting on with.

Have a great week,

Stuart

It's good that you have a lot of pleasant activities to focus on, Stuart.
Enjoy each day doing what suits you most :)

Valerie

Many thanks, Valerie,

I intend to :)

Stuart
