Hi everyone, I like the many training options here at Wealthy Affiliate and the fact that it is a large community of people helping each other out to succeed online. No matter where we get to in our online journeys, we need to keep learning and growing. Doing it within a supportive community like this one with people at all different stages of their online journey seems like a great recipe for success!

By the way, as so many of you are asking about my user name in the comments on this page, PurrPower comes from the title of a book I wrote about passive income. PURR is an acronym I created for the book and stands for Persist, Understand, Refine, Repeat. I do really like cats also, but don't currently own a cat :)

I just found out that I could reach out to you for help. What a terrible oversite, oh well.

We have tried everything we know to get traffic, how to promote, sell products on our site. Nothing has worked lots of impressions but no clicks. Our first site is information for moving. Could you look and maybe help .

Hi Lynn, lots of impressions and no clicks is usually a problem with relevance. For example, if you are getting traffic for “moving” keywords I wouldn’t expect those people to be interested in your wealthy affiliate banner ads or cbd oil. Those things aren’t relevant to what they searched for.

If you know of good affiliate programs for cbd oil, in my opinion it would work better to have a website all about that, not a sub domain on a moving site. Then each post can target specific keywords and answer questions for people and recommend one and only one cbd affiliate product in each one (too many choices leaves people confused, so they will keep searching in google for more info to decide which is best).

To increase the relevance further you could also consider writing reviews for individual cbd products targeting keywords related to the product/brand name. Then you can target visitors that are looking for exactly what you are selling. The links you provide on those pages ideally whould go directly to the sales page for the product you are promoting (if your affiliate program allows that), not to that companies home page for instance. (Ideally you want to preserve the relevance chain for the entire user experience). If your affiliate program allows you to offer a discount for visitors to your site that is even better. (If they don’t then you may be able to ask them for that once you begin to get enough traffic to make it worth their while).

This approach can position you as an expert in cbd to the point where people would recommend your site to friends. Just my opinion, but I think a site like that would have more profit potential than the moving site, since there are lots of products that people can only get online, whereas it may be more likely for people to source movers or moving boxes locally via yellow pages, or help from friends etc.

Also, banner ads are not very effective for getting clicks, even if they are relevant to the searches people found your site for. It tends to work better if you have something specific to recommend in each post and provide text links or specific product image links. It doesn’t hurt to put a banner ad on each page especially if it is for the exact topic the page is about, but I wouldn’t stack multiple ads for the same thing as you have done with your wa banners.

Hope that helps.

Brad

Good afternoon PurrPower,
I am a premium member and I simply need someone to give some feedback on my website acceleratedbenefitrider.net
The template has a banner that's so thick, that it cover's up copy content. Also, I don't have any imagery on my home page. Not sure how to add a photo there--but I landed photo's on the other pages. I'd like just 15 minutes of talk-time via phone to get some help. What time works best for you?

No question now, just the say thanks for this site, for a novice of the net, it seems that I am catching on just fine, look I actually upload my picture, I smile when I saw it appear. I usually call one of my grand kid to do it for me. It's early Monday morning at 3:04 am NY time and I haven't gone to bed as yet. that's is how much I am into WA.

Hi Brad, sorry to bother you but, I need some assistance: I have completed my 3 pages, but I decided to change my Theme, and when I did, there is nothing on my site anymore. In Wordpress, my 3 pages are still there but when I click on "visit site" there is nothing on the page at all.
My question: How do I get my content back on my actual site again?? I am stuck! I have had some reply's stating add them to the menu. I don't know how to do that because there isn't a publish button anymore, because my 3 pages have already been published. Basically I don't know what I don't know. Any ideas?

Hello Brad, thank you answering my questions in the past. I really appreciate you help and I hope that you can find a moment to answer another question. I asked this question on Live Chat but wasn't able to get a correct answer. How do I change the email address on the Home Page of my website? The name was automatically generated by the system (info@example.com) and I can not figure out how to change it to my domain email address. I tried to delete the email address and paste my own, but that didn't work.

Hi, to change the email address created in wordpress when you setup your site initially, you would go into your wordpress admin area (where you create your posts) and click on Users on the left hand side menu. Then choose your admin user, probably the only User in the list unless you have been adding some. From there you can change the email address. Don't forget after changing it to scroll down the bottom and click Update Profile. For technical support for your websites keep in mind you can hover over the blue SiteRubix button on the left side menu here in WA and click on Support. Hope that helps. Brad

Hi Brad, Thank you for your quick reply. I change my email address as you suggested. My new email address is now showing correctly under the User page but the system still didn't change it on the Home Page of my website. Any other suggestions? I will also email technical support. Have a great weekend.

Hi Grace, assuming you didn't add the email address to your home page yourself in the beginning, then the only other possibility is the theme you chose took the email address you had at time of setup to use on the homepage in a way that doesn't pull the new email address as it is changed (called "hardcoding" in software development).

However, let's assume you like your theme otherwise and don't want to change it (WA has training on how to change your theme if you decide you want to do that, which in all likelihood would resolve your issue, even if you were to switch to another theme and back to your original theme 5 seconds later). Here are a couple other things to consider:

1. Override the default homepage your theme provides and take control of it yourself (something you will probably want to do eventually anyway so your site looks more like a website with a blog rather than just a blog). I wrote a blog post here on WA that explains how to do that (although it isn't the main point of that blog post, the post explains how to take control of your homepage among other things): 2. Consider not showing your email address on your site at all. After having many websites over many years I no longer do that, because once a spambot harvests your email address it can become unusable due to the many spam emails you could get. Instead, add a contact page with a contact form on your website, and put a contact link in the footer of your site that links to your contact page that has the form. There are many ways to do that. I use a free Wordpress plugin called "Form Maker by WD". To find it click on Plugins on the left menu in your Wordpress admin area where you create your posts, then click on Add New, then search on "Form Maker by WD". In addition to providing a contact form (you would enter your email address in the Form Maker admin area after installing the plugin, then your email would not show up on your website for spam bots to find), that plugin also allows you to create survey forms to poll your audience on questions which can be very useful also. Here is an example of that plugin in action on the contact page of one of my sites: http://www.purrpassiveincome.com/contact

Hope that helps.

Brad, thank you once again for the very detailed answer. I truly appreciate your help and your expertise. Since you suggested to contact the tech support, I decided to do that and they fixed the issue for me. Thank you also for all the additional information that you shared with me, I am sure that I will use is at some point. Have a great weekend.

Hi Brad,
I am having difficulties with navigating the site to send private message to Kyle so maybe you can help me. I just created About Me page and I am ready to post it, except for the minor problem...the Attachment Display Settings are missing from my "Insert Media" page so I can't delete the URL Link. How do I proceed? Thank you Brad.

Hi Grace,

When you first enter "Insert Media" the Attachment Details on the right hand side don't appear. When you click on one of the images they do appear. From there you can remove the URL. That is how it should work. If it doesn't work like that for you mouse over the blue SiteRubix button on the top left of any page in WA and then click on Site Support to get the WA help desk to help you fix your Wordpress install.

The other thing you can do that is a bit more technical is to go into the Text version of your post or page (there are two tabs at the top when when you are editing a post or page, Visual and Text, click on Text). Then search in there for the URL that you previously added to your image (as far as I understand your question). Remove the URL from there.

Sorry for the slow response to your question, I get pretty busy with my day job and other things during the week and don't always find time to check in on things here at WA.

Hope that helps.

Brad, nice to hear from you. I look forward to getting to know you my new WA friend.

Now lets clear this up first. You don't own a cat. Your are owned by a cat. You are a slave to their master-ship. And do we know all about this.

Have you got a website yet. I would like to visit it.

Work hard, have some fun and don’t forget to ask questions.

A very nice boss once told me, ‘Helen, when you ask a silly question everyone else breathes a collective sigh of relief because they don’t have to!’ And that is so true. No question is silly so ask away.

If I can’t help I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Now let us keep in touch.

I figured out how to join up on Premium for an entire year. Now, how do I go about uploading my picture? I am planning on taking a look at a lot of the videos and other goodies over the course of the next seven days while my wife is out of town on a sister's reunion.
