Why You Should Put All Your Eggs In One Basket

What? I am contradicting myself?

Andrew Carnegie is believed to have achieved the greatest fortune ever. His net worth when he cashed in his businesses, is estimated at well over 200 billion dollars in today's dollars, considerably more than any of today's billionaires.

Andrew Carnegie's advise was:

"Put all your eggs in one basket, then watch that basket very carefully."

Thinking about the new year it occurred to me that many of us are guilty of chasing after the so called "shinny new objects," thus wasting money and precious time without results.

What would happen if we dumped every other wasteful and confusing program that doesn't produce results, and concentrated on the path to wealth that Wealthy Affiliates provides us.

It would a lot like putting all your eggs in a tried and tested "basket" that will work if you devote the necessary time and effort to it.

The beginning of 2013 is a great starting point to try Andrew Carnegie's strategy using WA.

Very good point. Thank you for sharing!

Your welcome theos

Nice post! I know I am done chasing the shiny objects...since I found WA last August, I have not seen anything that can come close to compare to it! Before that I spent a LOT of time...well, wasted a lot of time looking for something that would show me how or what to do to even start any kind of website, not to mention all the other information here about online marketing and how to make your website profitable.
Now, my only problem is finding the time to use all this information here since I still work a full-time job...at least for a little while :)

Thanks for the kind comment about my post.

Since I'm retired I have lots of time to spend on IM.
I always feel bad for folks like you who have to find time from your busy lives for your online activities.

But you know what? In a way your limited time may be a blessing because you cannot afford to waste time and money chasing after some of the many hyped up schemes we're all subjected to.

Good luck to you for 2013,

Juan

Thank you Juan!

That is very true...it is a great motivator to not waste time and money on all the schemes other places come up with. Plus, I guess having to work at a job is a great motivator also, at least for me....lol. The more I can learn and accomplish here the sooner I can become my own boss.

Best wishes to you also in 2013! -Sherry

Great post! I think I'll take your advice. :) Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading, Kathy. There are some great and insightful comments worth checking out.

There's a danger in spreading yourself too thin. You have to master something, not be all over the place. As Ella Fitzgerald said: "Do one thing". It worked for her. I think focus is imperative for success. That being said, if you could work it out so that you have residual income coming in from work already done and not needing your current attention, while you focus on your main niche, that can't hurt. Nice to have cushioning. Your blog conjures up all kinds of thoughts in me. Maybe it's leverage we need. That one basket can be expansive and inclusive of a lot. But I think I get your point. The one basket you are referring to is a strategy that is proven to work, such as the basic strategies taught at WA.

Buy a large enough basket to let eggs grow healthily.........!

Good point, exclusive. You will still want to watch that basket very carefully.

Well, I dunno about that...I will as usual make WA my first egg basket, but I believe that you don't put all your eggs in one basket. I have other programs that I follow and are okay too. Some of them were even previous members here. Some are not. Andrew Carnegie didn't know about IM. But I don't buy shiny objects!

Hi Sherion,

That's awesome that you don't buy "shiny" objects...I have cut way back on these wasteful purchases, but I still fall for some that have been recommended by online "friends."

My reference to Carnegie was more as a way of focusing people on one of the most wasteful and distracting items most of us fall into.

You could also look at the niches you're in...there may be a common thread that you may not have considered before, but that curiosity more than anything because you seem to have a thriving business already.

Also, I hesitated to use WA as the "all eggs in one basket" because these days WA reaches a rather wide segment of the IM field.

Thanks for your comments

And have a great, and successful 2013!

Juan
