After 1 week
Hi everyone, wow what a week. In this one week I created a webpage, had it ranked by Google, then started thinking I feel like it is more like a list than a website. I put it up for feedback and got the same comments I already tough more pictures and links with o the products themselves, but how do I link to products when I am not an affiliate anywhere yet?
In comes Kyle with my video for today, affiliate programs. Great timing!
I guess my question is how much traffic is enough to get a affiliate somewhere? so I can link my products to the actual distributors webpage, maybe I am ahead of myself.

personally, I had affiliate programs when I was only getting about 4 views a day. Not that I had any sales! ...but I probably had about 10 posts/pages combined before I applied to any. Amazon was an easy one. It depends what affiliate programs you want to join. By the looks of your site - amazon would be your first stop. However, I checked your site and you need photos for each product and the ones you have on your site need to be bigger and also maybe in a different position -- if you need help to resize images look here How To Resize Images Using WordPress - or if you join the amazon affiliate program, you can use their images from their site of course. Also, yes some sort of writing about the products - why they're good, why kids would love them etc, before the list of pricing and facts. Anyway, I hope that helps a little. It's only been a week so, don't panic. Keep going through the course and go from there, there's a lot to cover. Good luck :)

Amazon was one of the ones I was looking into because wal-mart only give 4% and Toys R' us I could find it. Amazon said 8.5%.
Do you think I should go and take my own pictures at wal-mart or target or use wait and use the ones on Amazon?

Hi again, personally, I'd go with amazon - they look pretty professional on amazon for the most part and plus, you can get accepted on there very quickly and it would be a pain having to change them all afterwards. You could use the images from amazon prior to being accepted if they're just generic product images, you wouldn't need to worry about that, as you could link directly to amazon for these products prior to being accepted on the program. You just use the general link to the product, rather than any affiliate link - then add the affiliate links later on. You've accomplished a lot in a week, well done! :)

Both Walmart and Target do not allow picture taking in their stores. You would take a chance on getting into trouble. If you can find a digital picture of the item then that would be ideal. Make sure that you are not infringing on any copyrighted material. Dave.

I decided to sign up or amazon's affiliate program they give you access to picture links you can embed in your code and has your affiliate link.
But thank for the tip on wal-mart and Target I would not want to get in trouble and kidded out of the store.
I have seen lots of you tube videos in both stores though. I personally took a few pictures to send to my mom and sister last year for Christmas ideas. I guess it is a matter of time before you get caught doing it.

Hi, me too, when I click on the link it says server not found? Did you link your website with siterubix? Did you buy the domain name from namecheap? Did you remember to change the name servers?
So many questions, just running through the top of my head what might be missing.

I love your site, brought out the child in me again.
Minecraft, so popular and mineons - perfect for any age (that includes me ;-D), oh and not to mention frozen - it still is my favorite movie.
About the list thing - lists are very popular, it gives your customers and idea of what they can choose from, rather than just having one item on a page - so it's good like that.
(If you go search online, you will see the most popular posts are the ones that says "25 items you could....." - meaning list posts are popular and they get shared more too)
I don't want to give you a huge review and tear your website apart, because it is awesome and I love your ideas, sadly my kids are far to big (except for mineons - no one can be to big for them), but there are some things you can change:
It is not necessary to name every page: welcome to.....
You can just name your page (like you did with the $50-100 gifts) "under $10", "$10-25 gifts", etc, and no need to add the word page. In your message on that page, you leave that welcome to the.....as it is now. - just a thought - it takes up allot of unnecessary space. You can take a look at some other sites promoting the same type of things, they have one or two word page names.
Ok, now for you actual question:
Did you check if all the awesome products you have listed are available at some affiliates? Amazon doesn't ask how many visitors you currently have (as far as I can remember, I've signed up 3 years ago - can only remember a bit vaguely), hopefully there is someone who can answer this for sure.
There are other affiliate programs that also don't look at the numbers on your site yet, they look at the setup of your site and if it will be fit for their type of customer - which I'm sure you will pass with flying colors.
But there are some affiliates that wants numbers, but you can just click cancel (and apply later again) if they do ask you for alexa rank or something like that.
