Building an Email List on WA

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about something that could really empower us as Wealthy Affiliate members.

Right now, we work hard to drive traffic and bring people into WA — and while that's great, I do wish the platform would allow us to build our own email lists from the signups we generate.

If we had access to the email addresses of those who join through our links (even just basic access through our dashboard), it would open the door for us to follow up personally, build stronger relationships, and introduce them to other helpful affiliate products alongside WA.

This small change could make a huge difference in helping members grow their businesses beyond just commissions — giving us a real foundation to build from.

Of course, I understand there are privacy rules to think about, but maybe there’s a way to make it optional or with proper consent?

Just sharing this idea with you all — because at the end of the day, we’re all here to learn, grow, and build something lasting.

Would love to hear what you think too!

Cheers 🍻

Paul.

If you just want to engage with the person about WA, there are several follow-up triggers you can add messages to -- baked right into the platform. You have the choice of sending as a message or a profile comment.

Here's a link:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/share/messages

Notice at the top there is the "Kyle and Carson" messages. Below you are able to do your own.

So, if it's about networking in WA, well ... they got you covered.

If that's inadequate for what you were wanting, then - yes - as others have said: build a landing page. It could be as simple as a build-up for WA that collects their email and sends them a message that contains the sign-up link (OK, that sounds cheesy, do better than that sounds).

You're the one making all this happen. Do it in the way you want.

You know how to place an ad, and you know how to provide a link for the ad.
Do you know how to do an email sign-up? If not, that's covered here.
The Email Service will send the user messages.

If you think about it, the best thing they could do in response to your ad is get on your email list. Then, you can follow-up with those who don't make it over to WA, and you have a way to get them into a funnel so you can track conversations.

For some reasons... messages do not work... campaigns not delivered (Probably due to upgrades of the platform). 😝

Fleeky

Exactly!
For some reasons ...

WA is no longer attractive to many referrals as it used to be from 2005-2018.

Uh uh uh

You can do this by building your own email list and then have an affiliate link in your email recommending WA your just promoting WA with email

Get them to sign up for your list and then promote WA to them

Barry

how do you do that when you run paid ads with your affiliate links?

Where are you allowed to run a paid ad with an affiliate link in it? Most places you need a landing page between say Google and WA or they shut down your advertising account.

Run adds to a landing page that gives away something for free that is to do with affiliate marketing then build your list and promote WA with your emails

this is something you need to get creative with...
Dale does it via an online course - harvesting emails and giving value within his free course before passing them onto wa...
so you will need to come up with something of high perceived value before you pass them onto the wa signup page that they are prepared to give up their email address for...
once they are here how are you going to market to them, what other products can you offer....
all bar working seo tools and an autoresponder are covered here...

There is nothing in the training program that teach us to do that.

I don't feel it will happen as Andy (income legion) stated as it could open up many unwanted doors and not good for WA nor for the members and their referrals.

This will (not could) but will lead to spamming their referrals and the outcome could result not only in your referrals quitting WA but also as a result, you lose out on your recurring commission.

When I first joined WA I wanted out of this spam race that was happening so my original mentor was fine in the first month being helpful then for a couple of months after that keep sending me PM's with other programs and affiliate offers much like what you are saying.

I didn't join to get such offers, some I did check and their were not only spamming but also rips offs.

In fact, one was a program I had joined months before coming here so I knew what they were like and a total rip off.

The best way is to have an email list on your own website and that is up to you what you want to promote to them from your email list, and your risk of losing followers there if your intent to offer them spam or low quality programs or products for the sake of earning some money.

But here this would not be an option. my mentor got kicked out after a couple of months as I found here was doing the same to other referrals he had. To think I have been here for over 11 years think about the recurring commission he has missed out due to doing this to his referrals here.

Now I have Kyle and Carson as my mentors

So no that would not be an option here.

Agree

There is no way you can spam on Wealthy Affiliate platform. Those who did meet their grave.

Most of my referrals are from the paid ads and I think its unfair to not to have access to their emails to add them to my marketing email lists.

WA system does it all, which I appreciate it, but its a great loss if I am not given the leads from the traffic I drive to WA.

First you say there is no way you can spam at WA.
Yet your second sentence answered your first sentence which indicates that if you do spam you will be taken down

People have spammed here in many ways and when reported they can get themselves banned here and taken off as a member.

As for your original question of having members email list have you actually read the rules here?.

The link is below Here are four rules you should note especially relating to your query.

Rule No 1:
No unsolicited messages promoting products, services, or outside communication to be sent through private messaging. This will lead to immediate removal of your ability to post anywhere within WA.

Rule No 7:
No adding affiliate links to any blog, training, discussion or private message. We do not allow any form of affiliate links here within your posts, reserve those links for your website.

Rule No 10:
No soliciting phone numbers. Do not share your phone number, or asking for others phone numbers.

Rule No 11:

Asking for personal contact information. Do not ask for personal details, such as email addresses, addresses, or first and last name.

The last two totally answers your original question.
Other rules may overlap as well.

It doesn't matter if you got your referrals either via Paid ads or organic content, it is simply not allowed here so the best way as I and others have stated is to create an email list on your website where you can use various types of Autoresponders to collect emails for further promotions but not collect emails here.

Lol, Sounds like Canada and Australia.

Sadly this is something that could open WA to massive fines and lawsuits. Not all members would welcome WA being turned into a high dollar mailing list and opting to receive offers from WA is not asking for the confusion of a dozen other offers your sponsor bombards you with. SPAM complaints, lawsuits, and criminal litigations could wipe a great program off the map.

Ethical marketing practices are required.
