Yesterday I wrote about my first 5000 word article, that took me 1 week to finish. Well, it seems like it was worth my time. When I logged into my Google search console account this morning I could not believe my eyes. It was the first time one of my articles got ranked and it happened the same day I published it. The article already had over 50 impressions in 24 different countries on its first day. And even though the rankings are still low, it managed to get 1 click.
I know that for many of you, that's not a big deal, but for me it is. It's my first website and it's the first time I saw traffic coming from Google. It feels great to know that from now on my articles might get read.
What's interesting to note is, the article that got ranked is not the first article I wrote. In fact it's my 7th article.
All of my posts were indexed, but still it's the latest article I wrote that got me my first traffic. Why is that? Well, the other 7 articles were around 1.000 words each. The one that got ranked on its first day, on a website that's not even 3 weeks old, has 5.000 words. So, I guess the length of the article might be the deciding factor here.
Of course, I cannot be 100% sure that this is really the only factor here, I will experiment a lot more with the lenght of my articles to see what does work and what doesn't.
