What do you consider your pet? An animal or a member of the family?
How do you consider your pets?
I have 2 animals (1 cat/1 dog) and they rule the house. Both were rescues that we got at a few weeks old each. My dog is 13. My cat is 2. These animals can relate to us (in their own special ways) in a fashion that we understand exactly what they want. Of course, being the staff of these pets, we get them what they want & all is well.
Do You give your pet everything they want? Do you talk to them like I do mine? It's really just interesting to me to find out if other's treat their pets the same way.

My dog is a service dog but he understands that he is a member of this family and my cats are members of this family I would not have it any other way because they are my children and they know that. To me, that is the only way to treat a service animal or pets because that is how they know they are loved and in a loving home.
I consider my cat as an animal and as an important member of my family. I consider it as an animal because it is certainly not a human though she knows exactly how to get what she needs, not always what she wants. Pets spend their life studying their human companion and will react to any change in our behaviour. Dogs tend to do everything possible to please their master. Cats lets the humans know that they own the house. I love my cat and I am really not looking forward to the day I will have to say goodbye. She is 13 years old going on 2 (very playful). Cheers, Nicole
My cat is 2 & my dog is 13. She is a Chiweinnie. I'm really dreading that day myself. I've had her since she was 5 weeks old.
Family members - 1 cat 13 years and 1 dog 5 years - both rescues. The dog needs to be careful though because if she steals my freshly baked zucchini bread off the kitchen bench again she may be permanently relegated to the back yard ;)
It was a couple of weeks ago. It smelt delicious. I went to the loo and heard crash :'( No zucchini bread for me. Now she gets a stern warning when I pull it out of the oven lol
Well, of course they are family! LOL!! Rulers is more like it. At least as far as the two cats go. One is even named Princess. My partner has had the two cats for over 13 years. One is inside the other is inside/outside. They are mother and daughter but do not get along. The are my 'husband's' babies. He even talks baby talk to them.
The only dog is my little 8# Longhair Chihuahua. Her name is Roxie Piquita (Roxie "Little Bit"). She is quiet and sweet. She has never bit or even nipped anyone. She usually only barks in her dreams, and when I say, "yes you can go". She loves to ride in the car. She has her own car seat that is at window height so she can see out. Yes, she's spoiled. She's my heart in a furry little black body. She's almost always on my lap or next to me. Yes, I do talk to her, all day long. I always tell her goodbye when I have to leave her at home, and she is all wiggly and excited when I come home again. She is going to be 11 years old on June 3rd and I've had her since she was three months old and fit in my cupped hand.
Probably TMI, but, oh well ;:D

Never TMI when you are talking about pets as far as I'm concerned. My Chiweinnie is also named Roxie. We always laugh & say we are not her owners... we are her staff... LOL
Somehow I knew you would understand. I could go on and on about my Roxie. Yours is adorable! It's true, I am Roxie's staff, as you say. But she gives me a lot of affection. She is also my therapeutic animal. Stroking her soft fur is very soothing and calming :)

Yes!!
We have 4 cats (all rescues from the pound or local rescue groups). They are our babies. We adore them and do everything for them. We talk to them, make sure they have everything they need, make sure we take care of them the best we can and try to make sure they are happy.
Their care is so important to us that I started my first website to review some amazing supplements I found for cats and dogs. I want to share products for common illnesses and behavior problems to help people care for their pets and hopefully rescue even more!
It is always nice to hear of someone else taking great care of their pets! Good for you!
Thanks. Mine is now a senior (13 years old) Chiweinnie. We are now doing the senior dog thing with her health.

Your dog looks very happy!
And that tells something about you...
Thank you so much. She is a very happy, loyal dog. I've had her 13 years. To be honest she's treated like a queen... LOL
Lol
No doubt!
