Step-by-Step Guide to Joining the Amazon Associate Program

If you’ve been thinking about making money online by recommending products you already love, Amazon Associates is one of the easiest ways to start. It’s Amazon’s official affiliate program, and it lets you earn a commission whenever someone buys through your special link.

Step 1: Create an Amazon Account

If you already shop on Amazon, you can use your existing account. If not, go to Amazon.com and click Sign In → Create Your Amazon account.

Step 2: Go to the Amazon Associates Sign-up Page

Visit affiliate-program.amazon.com. Click Sign Up and log in with your Amazon account.

Step 3: Fill in Your Account Information

You’ll be asked for:

• Payee Name (the person or business that will receive payments)
• Address
• Phone number

Make sure this information is correct because it affects payments.

Step 4: Add Your Website(s) or App(s)

Amazon will ask where you plan to share affiliate links. This could be:

You can add more later if needed.

Step 5: Explain How You Drive Traffic

Amazon wants to know how you plan to get visitors. Just choose from their list (SEO, blogs, social media, etc.).

Step 6: Choose Your Store ID

This is like your affiliate “username.” Pick something short and relevant to your niche.

Step 7: Payment and Tax Info

Before you can get paid, you’ll need to fill in your tax information (even if you’re outside the US) and choose how you’ll receive payments (direct deposit, gift card, or check).

Step 8: Start Promoting

Once approved, you can create affiliate links from any Amazon product page using the SiteStripe bar.

Pro Tip: You have 180 days to make at least 3 sales or your account will be closed — but you can reapply later.
