Content Is Your Currency - Give Value Before Expecting A Sale
In affiliate marketing, content is everything. It’s the way you connect, build trust, and create value before asking for anything in return.
Think of your content like currency. The more value you give, the richer your relationship with your audience becomes.
The mistake many beginners make is rushing to promote products before building trust. But people don’t buy from strangers; they buy from those who help them. That’s why content that educates and inspires always outperforms content that just sells.
What it means to give value first
- Answer questions. Write posts that solve problems your readers are searching for.
- Share honest experiences. If you’ve used a product, tell your story, the good, the bad, and the results.
- Teach something useful. Tutorials, guides, and how-tos keep people coming back for more.
- Be genuine. People can sense authenticity. Speak from your own experience.
How to turn valuable content into income
- Link naturally. Don’t flood your articles with affiliate links. Insert them where they make sense.
- Focus on long-term trust. A single honest post today can create loyal readers who buy through you for years.
- Update your old posts. Keep your content fresh with the latest insights, prices, or product features.
- Add visuals. Images, screenshots, and short videos help readers understand better.
Affiliate marketing isn’t about chasing quick sales. It’s about serving first. When you make your audience’s success your priority, income naturally follows.
Thanks for reading! Keep creating, keep learning, and always lead with value.

Thank you for sharing Paul
It took me some time, but I did learn that helping my readers works much better than pushing products and services at them.
Today, I make it a point to provide as much information and resources in every post as a priority. My website is tageting seniors preparing for retirement, so I try to provide them with tools and resources that will help them.
I mention WA as a good resource for seniors with no exprience, but I avoid selling or pushing WA at them in my posts. I often use my other posts on WA in my posts. This allows my readers that are truly interested in WA to gain more information.
This has improved my ranking on search engines
Jeff
Hello Paul
My traffic is still increasng this month, so that is a good sign. I do have some income from this website, I am more than happy with that since it is new
Jeff
Congrats Jeff. If your website starts to generate traffic and monetizing that's the good thing.
Hello Paul
I just published my 30th post on my website. I am ranking on average 79 according to Search Console. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve my ranking, I am grateful to be in the top 100 spots.
Jeff
Hi, Jeff, congratulation on your thirtieth post on your website. That's a great milestone reached.
I really appreciate you asking. I would love to do some reaserch to provide better tips but with my current health condition, I am not in a better position to provide any guide. Thanks for you understanding.
Paul.
I do understand Paul
Being myself with chronic health issues, I do understand how not feeling your best limits you. Your first priority should be taking care of yourself, then your online business.
Keep in touch
Jeff
Thenk you, Jeff.
I greatly appreciate it.
Keep in touch and hoping for a better health sooner.
Paul.
I am thinking of you Paul
Never give up, you will be feeling like your old self very soon. Tuesdays is my day to recharge my batteries. I work on the weekends online, so I take Tuesday off.
Jeff
Thank you, Jeff. Gradually feeling better since last night. Just a little heaviness in my head. When its cleared, I should be well.
Paul.
Good to hear you symptoms are improving Paul
I am doing alright myself today. Feeling kind of tired from yesterday's errands, but I will be fine in a few days.
Published another post today,
Jeff
Great to hear that Jeff.
Today I had to walk my daughter to school because I couldn't get my car started.
I am also planning to publish another post today.
Paul.
Hey Paul
Sorry to hear your car was being stubborn today. Things just don't work out for us all the time. How old is your daughter?
This morning I wrote and published another post which ended up deleted. WA content didn't transfer most of my content.
I might just start writing my posts directly on my website instead from now on.
What is your new post going to be about?
Jeff
Hi Jeff
Thanks for your concern. I was able to jumpstart with the help of a mechananic.
My daughter recently turned 8 and she is in grade 1.
Sorry to hear about your experience with the wealthy affiliate publishing hub. Have you brought this issue up to the attention of Kyle or WA support team. I think it's important to fix it soon.
I published couple of guides this week and here is one of them: https://newtoaffiliatemarketing.com/how-to-set-up-your-first-affiliate-marketing-website-on-a-budget/
I have used up my AI credit after publishing 7 articles this week. Some are in draft and I will have to edit and publish one each day.
I would love to read your latest post and to comment on it.
Paul.
Hello Paul
Thank you for sharing your recent post with me. I will read it as soon as i finish writing to you. Are you a llowed to share your posts on WA, I didn't kow if that was allowed or not
Jeff
Hey Paul
I read your post and it was very easy to follow. Where do bloggers get images to show step by steps?
I never knew where to get them for my own guides, reading your post reminded me that I have been wanting to ask someone how to get them
Jeff
Hello Jeff
I use Canva to create image for some of my blog post. When I generate article with WA, it also generate one image, which I prefer to use. Most time I use WA content hub to search relevant images to insert it to my blog post.
Paul.
Thank you Paul
I appreciate you sharing how you get images for your own website. I will give there suggestions a try for my next post.
Jeff
Hey Paul
I have a free account with Canva, but I have difficulty creating website images. I guess I need a step-by-step guide to learn how to do this effectively
Jeff
I would recomment you to upgrade to premium and use all the premium designs for free. It doesn't cost much for annual subscription.
Thank you Paul
I never looked into the cost to upgrade on Canva. With the free account you don't receive many good images to use for on your website.
Jeff
I upgraded last year. The premium features I get exceeds the value for yearly subscription.
Paul.
That is good to know Paul
WA is a very good investment without a doubt. I am still just a premium member. I have been tempted to upgrade to a premium plus member. For now, I am staying where I am.
Jeff
Hello Paul
About the upgrade on Canva. What exactly do you like about Canva Pro. I will check into the upgrade on Canva next time I am on the site. I just am not getting the results for website feature images using Canva right now
Jeff
The premium templates are great with premium. You download high resolution image with premium. But there are lot more benefit than these.
Take your time, Jeff. You will surely upgrade to Premium+. I have my own expectations to meet in order to upgrade to premium plus. Now, I ain't ready yet.
Paul.
Good advice Paul
I do feel eventually I will upgrade to premium+. Right now premium is providing me what I need to accomplish my goals.
Jeff
That's great, Jeff.
With Premium 5 Points = $0.01USD. Do you think PremiumPlus members have the different rate?
Paul.
Good question Paul
To be honest, I have no idea.
Right now I think premium membership is doing me fine, I don't actually know all that much about the Premium Plus membership benefits
Jeff
Hey Paul
Do you think the majority of WA members are Premium Members instead of Premium Plus
Jeff
Hey Paul
I have no idea either about Premium and Premium Plus members. Many of the people from my website join as free members but never upgrade.
I suppose that is common
Jeff
Sometimes starter members are overwhelmed with the platform. Those who are serious will tryout things so kindly guide them and encourage them to take their time.
That is a good point Paul
Possibly that is why some new free members never upgrade, they feel the platform is more than they are able to learn
I experience quite a many people who signup with me as free members never upgrade
Jeff
Yes, that's why those who are very new into building website and affiliate marketing gaveup very soon. I have one referral who used his mobile phone and was very frustrated with WA and gave up because he couldn't cope with the features of the platform.
Paul.
Hey Paul
I have experienced similar from my own referrals. This is especially true for me since my readrs are senior-citizens without much tech experience. Even I don't care for using my mobile phone online, I still am partial to using a computer instead.
Jeff
This is very obvious Jeff. senior-citizens would be needing more help here more thank young beginners.
Paul.
That is very true Paul
Many are scared of computers and technology. They lack the confidence they can learn how to do anything dealing with computers. That is why I shared my journey with WA as my about page update. So anyone reading it understands that they are not alone with being scared to try new things.
Jeff
I agree with you Jeff.
Testimonials are great way to build trust and engage our visitors into taking actions on what we offer on our websites.
You are doing great.
Paul.
Thank you Paul
I must admit I am learing quite a lot more in the past few months than I ever expected. Now I am giving my readers Download guides in my posts, never knew how to do this before so it is a new experience.
Jeff
Excellent Jeff!
This is what giving value to your audience is all about. I'm glad you've learned something new and applying well.
Paul.
Hey Paul
It is good to hear I am on the right path finally with my content, in the past I was anxious to make money online. Today I feel much differently about money and more inspired about helping my readers, and WA is easier for me to share my experience than my other niches in the past
Jeff
Very good advice Paul
I hope other members are learning from you and taking your advice seriously. Many times we listen, but we don't actually hear what people are sharing with us
Jeff
Why do you think you did it poorly Paul
You are providing members many good tips and things for us to think about in your posts. How are you doing with your newest website.
Jeff
I think I did it poorly because I am not providing a detailed guide. Plenty of information creates confusion so I thought keeping it short would help beginners.
I have been updating some of my pillar pages. I have a problem with my website, which affecting it from being indexed. That's my biggest challenge to figure it out and fix it.
Paul.
Hi Paul
The length of content is difficult to decide for me as well. I try to include the most important information to answer my readers questions as much as I can.
Sometimes my posts become quite long
Jeff
It depends on the nature or article type. I also have the same problem. However, as long as we include what is really necessary for a particular topic we are addresssing given the flow of the content is smooth and the readability is great, its all good.
Paul.
I feel the same way about the length of my content. I don't count words while I am writing, so that is how at times they might be longer than I realized
Jeff
Paul
What is the minium requirement for SEO, I am sure my content is above the minimum. Sometimes I just lose track how long my content ends up.
Jeff
Thanks Paul
I know when I created my pages RankMath recommends at least 600 + words. Some of my pages were just under that, but I am consistently adding to my pages with content and links.
One day I will more likely add affiliate links to my affiliate page and other pages. By creating them I have a pretty good list of affiliate programs to join one day.
Right now WA is my only affiliate program,
Jeff
Jeff,
You are really progressing well. Since your traffic is incresingly progressing. I would encourage you to join at two or three affilaite program and start placing relevant image ads banners or links in your articles.
Within you business hub I know there a many affilate programs there.
Paul.
Paul
There are many good affiliate programs in my niche for sure. The hardest part is choosing the best ones that my readers will be attracted to. Maybe tools and apps or website such as Canva would work well. I will take my time considering this before making any decisions
Jeff
Please take your time. But remembers not to choose beyond five programs, as your focus is one Wealthy Affiliate.
Paul.
Thanks Paul for the heads up on affiliate programs.
I am mainly going to be promoting WA in all of my content casually mentioning my experience from being a member.
I am interested in senior-friendly affiliate programs, so that will be my goal to find affordable yet reputable programs to share with my readers
Have any in mind let me know
Jeff
You may want to join Amazon Associate Program and recommend good ebooks on affiliate marketing in your article.
Paul.
Sounds like good advice Paul
I wasnt thinking about ebooks, but now that you mention it I am going to consider them. They are usually affordable for seniors on a fixed-income I am sure, I will check on the pricing of them.
Jeff
Most of the kindle ebooks are pracied below $10. The lowest or the starting price would be $0.99. Ebooks will complement your content very well.
Paul.
Thanks Paul
I never thought about ebooks being a profitable product to promote. It would be a nice low priced product for my fixed-income readers.

I am wondering about the value part because I am not sure my own input and experiences are of any good value. I am hoping that the outlines I use from the AI writer are valuable enough to attract people to my articles and my own input is good enough to show I am a real person sharing my real experience. MAC.
Add your personal touch to the AI content can give value and authencity to your content.
