In Response to "Shiny Objects"
I was fortunate because my process in arriving here went somewhat like this. I had a blog going for a year and a half about the process I went through in renovating an 1855 house on an island off the coast of Maine.
I hate to shop. So I have been a member of Amazon's Prime forever. i buy almost everything from them because they ship for free and it arrives on my doorstep in two days. Especially great if you live on an island. Here it arrives on my kitchen counter if I have gone out and left the door unlocked.
I thought i could monitize my blog. Not so easy as my buddy had given it a domain name and the site was essentially frozen. I could write but not add plug ins. Can't even back it up. I had joined Amazon Affiliates by this time. So I went looking for someplace to teach me what I needed to know. I did make the mistake of putting my phone number into one place. I closed the page before I went further but it was too late. Now I get calls from Blocked and Unknown every day. Can't change my phone number because it is part of my business.
I am kind of a private person sitting on this island with only 350 people in the winter. I also have lived in New York City, Florida, my boat in Maine and the Caribbean. I have been used to meeting people face to face. Don't get the wrong idea, I owned the Apple 2C and love gadgets. I may have been emailing before a lot of you were born.
So on with the story. I ended up here and eventually was told that I needed to get social, probably true. Now I get new followers every day on Twitter. Fabulous, you think. Ahhh, no. Now the shiny objects come to me!

I love your post. I really enjoying learning more about my family members here at WA. Living on an island must be a dream come true. I felt the same way when I moved to the Missouri Ozarks, but soon found there are no real jobs in this area.
I've made a commitment to myself that I am going to go full bore into this Affiliate Marketing thing. I have the summer off from school - which also means no pay checks, and the money won't last long. So I have to make this work. I will make this work.
Every time I see one of those shiny objects promotions, it makes me so glad I'm here among friends. Finding this place was indeed, good fortune.

Thanks for being here. If I never make any money I'll be more rich because of the people here on this site. I feel that there are seasons in our life. This season has been sometimes sad and its all very new. Still just trying to wade my way through it. Here at WA so many other neat wonderful people are going through the same thing. I feel so comfortable here, and not alone.

Good Heavens! Who could have thought your life could have been so challenging in Maine? Well, I guess it isn't the state you live in, rather the state of mind (IM) you live in.
This really reflects some of the things about marketing and jumping off into opportunities that have paralyzed me way too often. Be assured: I will follow your blogs and thus avoid the landmin(d)es. ;-)

Maybe a dumb question but, I usually see these and close the screen immediately, is that what I was suppose to do when I followed this link? It reminded me of many headaches I have been running away from since joining WA. Things that sound to good to be true! Thanks for posting. I am a Florida boy myself. Me too. I was fortunate to find this site quickly. As I did more research I lost the site that recommended WA. I should have joined through him.

You make me laugh. I am happy to say I haven't seen that kind of shiny thing until your blog. The Apple 2C. Have been using Apple since Christmas, 1976. The Apple 1 was released in July replacing my grandfather's huge IBM.
Still have my iMac Blue for word processing, then my black Macbook refurbished for my nephew to purchase my new 'silver thing' the Macbook Pro. Hope I can stay with it for awhile until I am making income with WA alongside you.
Want the Kindle HD, but saving to pay for a year here at WA. One step at a time. We have lived through a lot, and have a lot more to share.
Look forward to hearing about your next learning experience. Getting social isn't my favorite, Facebook and #twitter are more intrusive than I would like as well. My gmail was flooded forcing me for the first time to partition my WA to get here. Am finally into May and days behind.
