My Marketing Myths
Where I Was
Over the past several years I developed what I thought was an interest in marketing and distribution. The last 15 years or so, my career was in procurement, purchasing, logistics and sales for several companies. I found that through all of them, marketing interested me the most but had no idea how or where I would ever find a way to engage in it other than working for someone else.
What I thought
What I always pictured would be something in a consulting or advisory capacity, or maybe even web design but I didn't really know jack, and wanted to learn. That was about 10 years ago. I knew there had to be a way for me to engage in the global presence and make something work.
What Happened
Then in 2010 while browsing online opportunities I came across a scam-busting site that ended with a review of Wealthy Affiliate. I liked everything I read and bookmarked it for something to check out "later". Almost 4 years later while deleting old bookmarks there it was again. I know, it still hurts...Right in my face but it just needed to be the right time.
How things Happened
I don't like to name drop so I will endeavor not to, but I owe my acquaintance with Wealthy Affiliate to a great "younger than me" entrepreneur who is totally killing this thing and needs to be awarded some kind of medal or something...
He was in my thoughts and mind for a long time and "Poof" I was ready.
That's exactly what you want...Some gal or guy that is really reading what you have to say and your site has the stuff to keep them reading.
The Carrot...
What is holding you back? Are you like I have been and spending most of your time questioning your ability here??? Knock it off. I just sent out my first post after almost a year...I don't like what that says about me but knew if I didn't change something soon, nothing will ever change for me...I didn't join Wealthy Affiliate to "try" it out, I did my own homework and found what it was and how I could make it happen.
Thanks for reading,
Doug

Remember that old song by The Byrds? "Turn, Turn, Turn" ~ to everything there is a season, and our season has come! Just as you said, it could be right in your face, but it just had to be the right time. My story is very similar, and I know many, many others here share the same "right time" details. What an incredible thing this is... to BE in the right time! I'm feeling really excited again (that roller coaster thing) and I thank you for the great post, straight from the purest part of you! Gg

Hey you, I just now saw the link to the song! Talk about going the extra mile. You're the best, hope all is good :)
Thanks Kim, there's no better feeling than to get 500 pounds of thought off one's chest. You'll probably have a time of it to shut me up now. :)
Hello again Doug,
Like I said in my previous comment to your post, you are making things happen! And I'm sure most of us are too. Even after 4 years, you still have been given yet another opportunity to pick up where you left off, even if you haven't even started or touched it yet. We are all so blessed for this opportunity to be led to WA and to learn together, support each other during the good and bad times.
Again, thank you for your great posts. Have a fun ride! :))

What a great and honest post. There is so much off me in here :-). But it's never too late to take action. And now you do... Keep going, never give up. A winner always stand up one more time than a loser! And here we are all winners!
Hey Yoerik, Thanks for the input, my hope is that my thoughts could relate to and help someone out there in the community. All the best to you.

Congratulations! You sound a little like me and probably a lot of online newbies, but you did the right thing and took charge over that mystery ailment that holds us back from doing. Good job!
