Wannabes are found in every walk of life. They may be your best friend. They may be your parents. It may be YOU. But what exactly is a wannabe? Well, in its simplest form a wannabe is just an average person, with all the abilities in their belt, just not enough will to utilise their potential. However, such people are hard to point out, and so we present to you a list of fifteen signs to help you recognise a wannabe when you come across one.

• 1.High on the laid-back attitude: Do you push the deadline more than you push yourself to meet them? Well, this is the first indication of a wannabe. They think success just happens. If you are one of them my friend it’s time to stop ‘rolling with the waves’ and ‘going with the flow’ because god helps who help themselves. Setting milestones, creating clear goals, working out a plan to reach them AND reviewing that plan are just a few tips to get you started.
• 2.Big talkers: Actions speak louder than words, but this concept is lost to the wannabes. Their words ooze with passion and intellect; however, that’s where it all ends. They will never get out of their comfort zone. There is a pressing lack of motivation, to work overnight, to make ends meet or simply to get out of bed every day.
• 3.Constant comparison: Wannabes often find themselves drawn parallels between them and other people. They often answer questions like “why did he get this” or “why is it easier for her”. Such comparisons are not necessarily always negative, but letting them overburden you and yet not drawing inspiration from them is where a person gets the label of a wannabe.
• 4.Self-doubt: Self-doubt is a self-created dark cloud, whose thunder, when starts, never truly stop. Questioning your every caliber, your actions, your thinking is how this cloud is created. And uncertainty and excuses are what feeds this cloud and makes it bigger with every step.
• 5.Get defensive: Another concept that wannabes can’t grasp is the one of creative criticism. This quality goes hand in hand with their unwillingness to put their words into action because to speak big one thinks of himself as big. And such people can never hear a word against their handiwork and this desperation of theirs often lead them to jump to defences such as questioning the other’s judging abilities. Eventually, this fear of ridicule gives birth to reluctance to showcase their talents at all.
• 6.Masters of procrastination: Every person procrastinates in one way or the other, in a certain degree or another, but wannabes master the art of procrastination to the point of no return. They keep waiting for the clock to strike, instead of making an effort to look for inspiration or to make the most of their time.
• 7.The deficit of work value: Wannabes often set their goals to mountainous heights. However, they underestimate the value of these goals and the hard work and effort to be put in which is required for achieving them. Such people fool none other than themselves to escape making the required struggles.
• 8.No execution of ideas: Ideas are only of value when they can be showcased in flesh and blood but wannabes do not realise this. They shy away from showing the final products of their ideas and often end up being the only ones appreciating them.
• 9.No sense of present: Wannabes are often found crossing into other areas and being in a dilemma over either what is done or what will happen, that is, the past and the future. Such people can be found fantasising about what’s to come or regretting past actions. They simply forget to soak in the present.
• 10.Satisfaction: Man, creates a halt on his achievements the moment he becomes satisfied with whatever he has under the belt by far. Wannabes do not strive for higher accomplishments and often get stuck in the never ending the repetitive cycle of a boring routine.
• 11.Wrong inspiration sources: Inspiration is one thing that can be drawn from the most random places because, on god’s green Earth, one and all have a story. However, wannabes manage to ignore all the positives and attach themselves to the wrong perspectives of concepts; they are unclear of their inspiration and many a time stick around for all the wrong reasons.
• 12.Refusal for assistance: Wannabes think highly of themselves, and in their desire to prove their smartness to the world, set sail alone on the hardest of voyages; not more than a handful make it to the safety of the other side. Their refusal for guidance starts hampering their abilities and gives rise to an unfathomable ego.
• 13.Lack of respect for abilities: Wannabes can be found less than enthusiastic about their creations and hence end up losing interest in their capabilities. Following this pattern, such people often end up undermining all their talents and end up with nothing.
• 14.Too much importance to others: The voice of the society is rather deafening, but it does not stop people who are self-assured. Wannabes, unfortunately, are not one of them. they give undue significance to the opinion of others and often, end up getting stretched in various directions and losing sight of their main purpose.
• 15.Afraid of success: As ironic as this quality sounds, this could be treated as a repercussion of the quality of self-doubt. Even after they overcome all above-mentioned hurdles and somehow manage to achieve success, their lack of self-confidence makes them question their worth and whether they truly have earned this success or was it just a fluke.
