As a celebration of my 30 first days inside WA, I was checking how my first blogpost in here was doing in the real world. I checked Google, Bing and Yahoo. And What I found made me smile and laugh, even :-)

I did the search (incognito, and after cleaning all cookies, of course) for "musicians and marketing", since that's what my site is about. I found nothing on the important pages (1-3) in Google, but I have a habit of checking the first 10, just to keep up the hope. On page ten I found one of my blogpost, and of course, I smiled. At least it was there, as number 100 out of 27 700 000 hits. Not too bad, and it will move on, I'll see to that.

Happy so far, everything is better than nothing, and this was absolutely more than nothing. I opened a search in Yahoo, still with a smile, but after searching the ten first pages, there was no sign of any of my posts. Leaving Yahoo and entering Bing, searching for the same and crossing fingers, I found this funny thing:

On Page 1, placed 3rd, was one of my articles, and the funny part of it, My review on Wealthy Affiliate, not at all targeting on that keyword, was number 10 on the same page. Now, Bing is not as big as Google, but out of 14 000 000 hits, being nos. 3 and 10, is wonderful. Especially considering that the review had been published a few hours before. It turned out on page 1 on a page it wasn't supposed to show on, I laughed. I call this a success!

HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?

I wasn't aware of the effect this would have, but the review is linked to in the other article. I believe that's the reason. I also notice that there is a difference in how these search engines operate. It does matter how you set it up, and it does matter that you don't try to override what the search engines are looking for.

Competition on Google is of course a lot harder than on Bing, these days. Still, a search engine is a search engine and people are looking for everything on all of them. Any result is a good result, so by keeping building my site and being consistent in what I do, I'm sure I will get better results on Google as well.

With all the opportunities and all the help inside this community, I don't understand how it is possible not to succeed. I'm excited and hope you can get some of this excitement for your work. Keep working consistently on what you believe in, and I'm sure we can all celebrate often!

Thanks for your visit, keep rockin'!
