Some Google traffic and more.......(Week 3)

I've been quite robust in doing content for my site for the last 2 weeks. It occurred to me that as long as I keep adding content, I can't go wrong. I've made good progress with the certification courses and I almost ignored the other areas of WA.

I believe that I am wiser this time around. Sniffing around this awesome community is what threw me off track the first time around in 2010. I became impatient and started building a website whereas I was nowhere ready for this. I abandoned the scheduled training completely. I work rather well when following some kind of structure. I still participate and contribute in the community tough.

Anyway, back to my post. After doing so well with the course, I realized that Level 4 (Mastering Social Engagement) is a bit tricky for me. I struggle badly with social networking. I do just fine with blabbering and "gossiping" on Facebook but that is just it for me.

You see, with the rest of the training you follow a site by step approach (do this, do that, click there kin of stuff) however with social media there is no science per se but a lot tends to draw from your personality. I suspect I may have to narrow it down to mastering one social network at a time.

MOST IMPORTANTLY I STARTED SPOTTING SOME GOOGLE TRAFFIC TODAY!!

I use Statcounter to track stats because I struggled badly with installing Google Analytics. Unfortunately I cannot tell what keywords led the visitors to my site. Apparently, Google does not share this info if the users where logged into their Google accounts when doing the search. I can't even tell which posts brought them to my site. All I could gather is that these were not traffic boots but real people as I could track the countries and states (US and the UK).

I really commend Wealthy Affiliate for the level of training being provided. Most forums will tell you to forget about the weight loss niche as it is too competitive. I've always wondered why anyone calls weight loss a niche because it is too broad. Wealthy Affiliate has shown me exactly how to find niches within this market of weight loss.

It is too early to tell whether I made a good call by sticking to this niche. My inner voice tells me that as long as I stick to those low hanging fruit keywords I should stand a better chance at success as anybody else.

I only have two tips to anyone who feels they are getting overwhelmed or feeling less confident:

1. Go to the Certification courses and start at Level 1..follow the step by step lesson plan to the letter.

2. When in doubt or overwhelmed, ADD CONTENT TO YOUR SITE.

So, there it is for me. I love this place!!
