Avoid Hosting & Domain Mayhem!
In anticipation of utilizing all online resources in one place-- Wealthy Affiliate-- I was excited to have my previously Bluehost-hosted domain name (hope that makes sense) switched here on the WA platform. Why? Well, basically because I figured that it is worth it on the expenses v. benefits grand scheme of things as a Premium member AND I would get a load of support directly from the WA community...
I was so right...
At first I was confused, because when I initially tried to direct my domain that I purchased through Bluehost, to the WA name servers, it did not appear to be working successfully. I kept getting an error message when keying in the domain name into my browser. I was frustrated to say the least, because I had paid for the Premium membership upgrade with the hopes of making the most of the investment. To start, I was going to use the WA hosting services!
I eagerly went to find answers to this conundrum and after reaching out to WA via a help ticket, I quickly got a response. How much relief this was, further reassuring why I had decided to upgrade. This type of community is hard to come by, and I reminded myself that I hadn't spent three months contemplating on whether the upgrade was a good decision or not- for nothing. I analyzed and I was satisfied with my choice, as I am now.
Now back to the story line (as is in the rules section of posting here on WA. Smile)...
I was given advice to go ahead and ensure that my hosting for the actual domain name wasn't still active with Bluehost. Even though I had purchased the domain name through Bluehost, I wanted to use the WA for my hosting.
After making the adjustments in the Bluehost cpanel, canceling my hosting with them because I refused to pay for their hosting when I had everything I need in one place here-- within 48 hours my domain name was up and running perfectly, as hosted through WA.
Lastly, to make things a bit easier on yourself, what I have found is that if you have an idea for a niche site, go ahead and simply purchase the domain name through Wealthy Affiliate. Within a matter of minutes, my other site was up and running with no problems this way.
Whether you chose to start with the free siterubix site, then move it to your exclusive domain name (purchased through WA), or if you just start fresh without using the siterubix extension, both ways will prove to be simplistic in nature if you just stick with WA!
P.S. It took me about 21 minutes to write this post. Started with no specific plan in mind, just knew I needed to post something today, as a part of my goal to get into the habit of posting regularly here on WA. Tell me your thoughts. Was it helpful? Boring?
Hope this helps!
My very best,
Nerissa

If you are planning on posting regularly, I hope you can post something which is useful to us.
Ask yourself. "What can I post which give value to the community?"
Have a nice weekend.
Thanks for the tip. Now trying to do better as a result of this feedback.

This was helpful because I wasn't sure if I got a free domain that didn't have siterubix included in the name. Thanks!
