Using search console? Read this important tip.
So I'm updating my search console entries for www.ukbitcoinblog.com and www.mandolinmonday.com and I noticed that google is saying it's a redirect and not indexing the site.
I discovered that if you create a new property without the www. e.g. https://ukbitcoinblog.com google seems much more happy to use it in search console.

From a technical perspective I would not expect the www to be a redirect, but in fact a A record in the DNS record (ignore that if you don't understand). I've asked support and they said this method does in fact increase search engine indexing of your site... just maybe not in search console.

I've just checked my console and only used www for sites that were created long before Google insisted sites be secured with SSL certificates.
Maybe creating properties without the www is linked to that ...My recent site is set up without the www - also on advice from SiteSupport.
It's great to know about these nuances and how they may affect the performance of your site.
Thanks for sharing Paul.
No worries I'll post anything else I find.
