I Should Be Young Enough - My 3 Week Update
Well, it is officially three weeks since my first post. I am up to 13 posts and 3 pages on my website and I think I am doing pretty well. Then I check my Webmaster Tools and see that I am still not ranked in Google (or Bing). So, following the training, I set up social media accounts on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook (find them at the bottom right of my profile and connect). I thought to myself "I should be young enough to do social media".
I mean, I am only 38 and a relatively social person. So I set off on my social media journey (and kept posting to my site)...
Facebook - I Have Some ClueI know Kyle said to make a profile, but I set up a page. This is part of my longer term plan so I went with it. I invited SOME friends and family, but only the ones that fit my niche. I didn't need mom (who doesn't drink beer) commenting on the page.
So I am up to 30 people following my site and one wasn't even from my friends list...win. I am posting there the status of my latest batch of beer and I will add a review to my website when I am done.
All-in-all, not too awful but only because I am already on Facebook.
Pinterest - New to MeSo I set up Pinterest and have pinned each post from my website. To me, Pinterest is an interesting social media in that I haven't socialized. I just pin things to my boards and...now I sound like I am old.
I am still figuring this one out, but I am up to 4 followers. I consider this one a win...kind of...but only because...
Twitter - What The...I consider myself to be kind of funny (maybe it is just me) so I thought Twitter would be right up my alley...then I posted 15 tweets over 10 days...and heard crickets.
Wow, the best I have gotten so far (and I will attempt to leverage this) is my post when I started my batch of beer. I tagged the company that made the kit and I got a reply from the brewery that the kit is based on!!! Man was I excited.
Well, almost 2 weeks in and I have...wait for it...two followers, 0 re-tweets, and 7 likes. Shout out to Justin Lewis (@justinl23707054) who is clearly from the WA community. I would like to find him here if anyone is following him.
So Why Am I Writing?Well, I could use some guidance on Twitter. I followed a couple of the trainings here at Wealthy Affiliate and it still hasn't helped.
So I thought I was young enough to use social media, but I realize now that I need some pointers...someday I will get this off the ground

Thanks for the follow Nate. I just remember asking my daughter who is 18 years of age if she can help me make an account in Twitter (so that I can follow her 😂) but she told me, I can’t because I don’t have followers! But now I can!! 🤗

Thanks for asking those questions. I have the same questions just did not realize until you put them before me.
Congratulation on your progress

Hi Nate
Thanks for asking the question about Twitter, it has helped me and I am sure it will help other community members too.
Blessings

The use of social media is a major way of driving traffic to your site. I have learnt from your experience with it. I have to improve my social handles
Hi,
A Tweet's lifetime is about 20 mins. In other words when you tweet something, it will be forgotten in tweetosphere after 20 mins. In other words, you have to tweet 15 a day not 15 a week. Okay maybe 15 a day is too much but you should at least tweet 6-8 times a day.
There is a service called Buffer. By using it, you will be able to schedule your tweets. So say you have time at night. You can create 6-8 tweets that night and use Buffer to post those every 2 hrs.
Some things you can do to get more followers is find influencers in your niche and follow them. Retweet their post, be active in their Twitter and from to time invite people to visit yours.
Use images in your tweet because it gets more engagement.
Do a contest or competition
Make sure to put your call to action in every tweet meaning tell them know what you want them to do with that tweet. e.i. RT it, follow your account, like your tweet, etc.
That's all I remember from my social media marketing class. Ill try to go over my notes and I will let you know if I have more to add.
Cheers,
JG

This is great! I have signed up for buffer. I was wondering if my random posts were an issue.
I will update my blog after using this.
Cheers!

Hi Nate,
Im glad to help. Just message me if you have more questions.
To be honest, attention needed by Twitter is too much for me right now that is why I only have Facebook and Pinterest.
Regards,
JG
