What to do when you get a Red McAfee warning?

Hi,

I received a kind PM from a WA member (thank you jd!) who got the red McAfee warning for my site:

"Whoa!

Are you sure you want to go there?

http://powerfulaffs.com/how-to-become-an-affiliate.... may be risky to visit".

I did a bit of research and figured the best way to resolve this problem is to contact the "Trusted Source" team and address an issue with the site.

If you're having the same kind of issue:

check single URL: select Site Advisor and add your domain name:

When you check URL you will see the following window:

Now select under category 1 (you can do all three) your preferable category and write an optional comment.

Here's a message I wrote a minute ago to McAfee (perhaps you can use it too):

Hi,

I own powerfulaffs.com. The site's mission is to help people learn how to build an online business. It also promotes an affiliate product.

I received emails from my visitors who claim McAfee is suggesting visitors not to access it.

I see now the site's reputation is "Medium Risk".

I don't know why since I'm not spamming anyone. Could you please remove this warning?

Kind regards,

I know most people access powerfulaffs.com without drama, but I must admit the McAfee filter is causing a bit of a problem. I don't know what the outcome will be after I sent my request. I just wanted to share my very fresh experience with anyone who may have similar issues. Hope it helps.

If you have an advice, go ahead...

Thanks Mudre! Good to know.

No worries. Have a good one.

Hi Mudre, thanks for the heads up, I´ve had dealing with the same issue, had gotten a few PM from my site visitors. Had my laptop checked, but the problems is still on my site, don´t know what to do now. I will follow your post with interest.
Alejandra.

It seems there's little I can do, apart from starting from scratch on another domain. I will let you know how it played out.

Thanks Mudre, let me know what you need to do to solve out this problem.
Alejandra.

Hope you get this sorted very soon

Thank you.

Thanks for the Heads Up. Hope this gets resolved for you quickly.

I hope to. It's pretty annoying after investing so much effort in it. Thanks.

I have been through the same process with my first domain purchase last year. It was a bad egg and had been red-flagged years ago (numerous complaints dating back to 2009).

I have a McAfee subscription and was shocked to see my own website was being faulted.

I contacted the Trusted Source Web Rep in a similar fashion as you and even named myself as the owner.

To date, nobody has gotten back to me and the website is still labeled "unsafe, proceed with caution".

I went ahead and recently purchased a new domain and was able to successfully redirect all information over.

Oddly enough, my traffic has went UP, i'm talking 50-75% daily. I haven't added any content yet, since changing domains.

My guess is the bad domain kept a lot of potential visits away.

Maybe they will get back to you ;)

Thanks so much for the feedback Jason. I don't feel they will get back to me either.
What amazes me is your experience. After changing domains, your traffic increased which is fantastic. I have a couple of other domains waiting to be exploited. As a matter of fact, I thought about it today cause one domain is related to quality content.
You reckon I should try migrating the current website to another domain that's not directly related to it? Perhaps I could have to separate sections or something (just brainstorming out loud).

yeah, I check everyone's profile and website and read some of their blogs who requests a follow with me an vice versa and try to respond to all of them. I dedicate an hour every other day to do this. MudreM is the only one so far that I saw do that. His lnading page comes up but when he links to how to make money online the warning sign pops up. I dunno

Incidentally, If you haven't had a chance yet, please re-visit my site and enjoy the videos. Please feel free to leave a back link to you posts and website in any of the comment sections of any of my sites. I'm sure some of my visitors might want or need your services There 2 links to 2 of my other sites from my main site. I hope I can help you generate traffic and sales too. Even if you link back to your WA affiliate and they sign up with you, I'm good with that. AS Zig Ziglar preached, "You can have everything in life you want if you just help other people get what they want first." I'm encouraging all my followers to do this because as I understand basic marketing 101 that we should be trying to put our signature with backlinks to our website and email on everything that will allow us to. I will set aside time each day to do the same for each of you too if you like.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,

Thanks for bringing this up jd! Also, thanks a lot for your generous offer!
I must say I was pretty annoyed to learn that McAfee is playing on me real hard though I haven't done anything bad. At least, I think I haven't.
At first, I just wanted to call the day and give up on affiliate marketing (I mean, if you can get through to your target audience, there's little you can do, right?), but I decided to have a bit more fun. We'll see what happens though I feel I failed somewhere along the way.
As the first video on your site says: "If you've never failed, you've never lived."

That would of come as a shock, well done Jd. WA at its best. I run with McAfee and have noticed more and more that the Whoa pops up around sites that even have a whiff of affiliate marketing mentioned. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am sure a few folks will be checking their sites. I admire that you took action straight away. Keep us in the loop as to the resolution Mudre.

It is pretty shocking, to say the least. If my visitors can't access my sales funnel page, what's the point of trying. To make things worse, it's not up to me whatsoever. If others have similar experiences with sites thatt promote products via affiliate marketing, it should be addressed here ASAP.
