Proof that WA works (well if you do)

OK so yesterday was a watershed...

- I got a check from my client yesterday for $1500.
- My contract with them calls for 10 posts total. Yesterday he selected 5 of the 10 recommendations I made for the last 4 posts (yes I was good at math at school and so was he, but maybe he's not so good at contracts. But he is the CEO, and if he wants me to do 11 posts instead of 10, well...)

What does this have to do with Affiliate Marketing???
Everything.

I am applying all of the skills I learned here to do this. WA also gave me the courage to join a few other groups with more "senior" people. WA training and tools take you so far. Even the instructors will tell you having things outside of WA like Canva, Grammarly and video editing tools will get you to the next level.

So they found me because I write.

This is not something I looked for. I have a background in computers and cybersecurity. I didn't know a lot about raspberry pi computers when I started writing about them. I now own two. So I wrote some articles about how to secure a Raspberry Pi.

There is a story line in "Star Trek" future history. The signature of the first warp drive attracted the attention of the Vulcans. Propelling the human race into the space age.

All I did was write. And the right person saw it.

Sometimes that's all it takes. My YouTube videos have been noticed and commented or emailed by a couple of manufacturers, but they never did anything about it.

This gave me an idea. There must be more people like this. So I am pivoting. Again. A new website specifically to attract people like this. Registered on Upwork to get it started.

Am I forgetting about affiliate marketing? Nope. In fact it's still growing slowly. I'll post more later, but I expect this to be another great month.

Not thousands, but hundreds. It's doing what it's supposed to do. It's paying for the training.

Thanks for this post. Great stuff here.

It helps to know that you didn't know much about a subject (Raspberry Pi computers, whatever those are) but you learned as you continued to write about them.

It's also proof that your affiliate website can give rise to additional opportunities, such as being hired to write.

Most encouraging. Best wishes!

Jeff

Good morning Michael,

Congratulations on that, Michael, that's great news.

I have kind of followed your journey on Wealthy Affiliate, as I know you have been documenting your progress and struggles, which is really great, especially when you break through.

Well done to all your hard work and the fact that you get moving forward, despite some obstacles.

Have a great day.

This is great news, well done. I have a similar success story about writing which I blogged about years ago because that's how long I've now been working for this company. And it's been bringing me in a very welcome Β£850 per month for the last 7 years. I initially got the gig from Fiverr, but would never have known about that, or that I personally could write articles for money, if I had not been a member of WA.
I hope this is the start of a similar productive journey for you, Michael.
Very encouraging stats with your site too.
All the best.

Yes, Gail. My other group and others have told me that Fiverr is a good place to find people to do small things at a lower price. And Upwork is higher paid. So far, I have seen little proof of that, but since they have a really detailed drilldown into how to get onto Upwork, I am following their lead.

I don't know how long I will keep this client or if I want to. 10 posts out of 400 as sponsored posts is not bad. 100 for one company? Not so great. So either I write on their site eventually or we find another way.

In any case, it's a good idea to seek out new clients to diversify. I think I am headed to a steady $300-$400/mo on affiliate income so there's that too.
