Attitude is everything

I have often wondered - what sets a highly successful person apart from the vast majority?

Was he/she born smarter and wealthier? Or simply born lucky?

Based on many biographies of successful entrepreneurs, athletes, entertainers, scientists, artists and inventors, it is clearly not so. In fact, most of them were quite average in school or even had learning disabilities, often overlooked by the establishment and raised under poor circumstances.

What truly set them apart are these qualities:
1. Belief in themselves that they will add value to humanity despite the negativity and criticism.
2. Never allow dire circumstances or lack of resources to stop what they do.
3. Always seek advice from mentors who have gone before them.
4. Always grab the opportunity that presents itself and figure it out as they go along.
5. Discipline to execute unglamourous grinding tasks which steer them towards their dream.

By doing whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, their focus never falters. Many of them even remember fondly the arduous journey to get to the top of their game, even when it was strewn with blood, sweat, wasted years and wasted tears. They would not have it any other way.

Salute to mentors who never give up! My own journey is made easier because of what they have already gone through.
