I'm So Excited

Today is such a big day for me!! I have a twin brother who had been married to a wonderful woman and then he messed it up and they divorced. I had not seen or spoken to my Sister-in-Law for over 20 years as we lost contact. That was until Facebook.

I had the pleasure of reconnecting with her 6 months ago, then a month ago we did a short visit to Florida so that she could reconnect with my children that live there.

Today, she is coming here to New Jersey to spend 2 weeks with me and reconnect with all of my children still here in the North. Barbara was my very best friend as a young woman and wife. Although we are the same age, she had a lot of wisdom and I loved her so. I was very sad over the years that we were not in touch. You see Barbara and my Brother Asuba did not have any children together. Barbara had 3 children by a previous marriage and I saw my nephew Thomas on Facebook and that is how we reconnected.

This is so important for me because

  • I love her and her children very much
  • My children love them and have missed them
  • Barbara has terminal cancer

I want to spend as much time as I can with Barbara and rebuild the bonds that we have. Family is so important. It really doesn't matter what your family makeup is, family is family is family!!

I'm soooooooooooooooooooo EXCITED!!

That is soo nice. Happy bonding time.

Such a great story, glad you were able to reconnect with her, I agree, when it comes right down to it family is the most important thing in life in my opinion.

Hi Naima. I've been where you're at many times in the past 5 years. Reconnecting with old friends (I'm 75) and family I had never met. The fact that Barbara has cancer makes it even more imperative that you both rebuild that connection strongly. Her family will then know that there is a steady, solid person they can always go to for help, advice or just to commiserate with them.
In the past little while, I've lost some of those, whom I did reconnect with, due to illnesses and age, BUT I am GLAD that I managed to spend time with them for however long we had together.
Naima, it really doesn't matter if they are family or 'friends' from our past. They all end up being family to us. Yes, family, whether nuclear or extended like mine, is family. And that connection will always be there. Be blessed and have a great two weeks with Barbara.
You guys are loved.

Ian

Ian:
Thank you so much for your kind words and stopping by my page. I am right there with you. God Bless you being 75, I'm still growing to that. I will be 60 in August!!

Girl, you look great for 60. My wife is 80 and she's got that Jamaican look of youth that seems to follow that group. She puts it this way, "Black don't crack!" Our friends our own ages definitely look a lot older than we do. Last year I was told I looked 55 by a waitress. I left her a HUGE tip. Lol

For all the bashing Facebook gets as a time waster, there is no denying the power it has to reunite people this way. Congratulations on rekindling your friendship. It sounds like you two have a lot of catching up to do!

Thank you Halin:
Yes we have 20 years of catching up to do!!

Thats is exciting. Happy for you and spend a lot of time catching up on memories.

So happy for you!☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺

We will all share in your excitement ! Steve

make the most of it for sure!

Cram everything you cam think of into the time you have with her. I also have a dear friend with terminal cancer - she lives in Italy and I don't know whether I will get to see her again. Hugs and strength winging their way to you :)

Thank you so much!!

Nice
