Try Steering a Docked Ship

Setting Sail to Success.

I find that one of the biggest obstacles in achieving success is actually moving forward in my plan.

Implementation

Execution

Doing it!

I know it seems silly, but time marches forward. In fact, in the last 15 or so seconds you've read to this point in this blog.

So, what does setting sail have to do with time. It takes time to build momentum and achieve a return on investment. The longer you wait to begin your plan, the longer it will be to see the results, whether they be positive or negative. Likewise with a ship. It takes time to reach your destination.

There are at least two things happening here. One is time to reach the far off land, and the other is steering a parked ship.

If it takes 6-9 months to see a return that you can measure in the bank. Then, waiting for several months to start you website or implement your plan will delay that return by several months. Wait a year, and you wait 18 months, etc. If you never start, you are still 6-9 months away from seeing success.

Which brings me to these points I need to say. A ship not moving can not sail closer to the far off land, nor can it be steered.

If it takes 6-9 months to sail the high seas to a new land, than waiting in the harbor for the next few months still puts you across the high seas 6-9 months after it sets sail. Conversely, waiting for several months to start your plan, will cause an additional several months to experience the beginning for success.

When the ship is docked and you twirl the steering wheel, all you are doing is creating waves at your dock, and annoying the passengers and neighbors. You are going nowhere! When the ship finally is sailing, you must constantly adjust it's sails, steering, speed, and direction that it is moving. You can not get to the land of enchantment by setting the steering wheel in one position and never touching is again. You have to take hold of the steering wheel and adjust continually.

Likewise, once you start your website you must remain at the creative and managerial helm and continually update content and keywords, and other marketing related material to stay on course and reach success.

Now, I must leave the harbor today. Because waiting one more day, would cause delay in reaching my desired successful end just one more day!

"Do it now, because today is already yesterday, and tomorrow is already here."
