Changing my mindset to "Consider. It. Done." P.2

Yoda was right!

Yesterday, right after I posted my blog, I dove into my To Do (goals) list. Part of that was “trying” to find a new job.

I came across this great article that summed up something that I have been missing in accomplishing my goals: http://www.careerealism.com/tips-unemployed-yoda/

Yoda says: “Do or do not; there is no try!”

While I was trying to find a job, or trying to accomplish some goals, I was also “not do”-ing them.

There is no try! I can and will continue to set those goals. Some I’ll tone down to smaller sub-goals, but I will hold myself accountable to completing them.

Remember folks, this is a journey to increase a great many things about ourselves. While every drop can become a waterfall, and every journey does start with a single step, both have a goal in mind. So, we continue to push forward until we can say: “Consider. It. Done”.

==================

Ok, so that’s what I wrote yesterday, hoping to get a head of myself.

This morning my thoughts started with: “What’s my plan? What’s my plan?”

Today’s list contains errands like groceries and a much needed hair cut, teaching my kids more tricks on her computer, doing another lesson on WA, my job search / networking, learning more about corporate training (what I want to improve in my career), and further elaborating my business plan for the new school we (shhh. It’s a secret) plan to open.

OMG… too much?!? Maybe, maybe not. These are my targets, my goals for today. I’m not going to bore you with the specific details of each task and how I plan to accomplish them… well, not today anyway, maybe tomorrow, though…

First positive I can pat myself on the back for, is that I woke up thinking about my plan for the day. That in itself is motivating me to do stuff and feel like I’m back on track.

Second positive is practicing what I preach, giving myself grace to make mistakes. I’m not listening to the prejudiced prick in my head telling me I’m not good enough. I didn’t do everything I set out to do yesterday and the world didn’t come to an end. I can do some of it today. I can say with some confidence that if I don’t complete everything today, the world will still be here tomorrow and I can complete stuff then.

Third positive is I don’t feel so stressed today. I’m continuing with my challenge to change my mindset, my inner & outer vocabulary (Look up NLP…. Anthony Robbins is all up in that s***).

If you want to try too, try not using the words “should” or “try” anymore. It’s a fun challenge, but deeply effective in catching our self doubts and turning them around.

“Should” is a judgement word: I should have…, you should have … that shouldn’t have happened. When we use it, we are denying the reality of what is. Not accepting the facts of reality can make it much harder for us to actually deal with it. Accepting and dealing with our circumstances, instead of feeling or judging them, will help us move beyond them. Remember, there are really no failures, there are only results. We can always improve on, or build on results.

“Try” is a world filled with fear, insecurity, and more judgements. There is no commitment in trying something. Do it. If you make a mistake, then correct the mistake, build on the parts that did work, move forward.

So onto my next task… wishing you all a very productive day!
