Spending Too Much Time?

For the past 3 days I wasn't able to check my emails from Wealtjy Affiliate. That is from Tuesday to Thursday. I did it on purpose since I need to complete my latest article. Sorry if I wasn't able to answer all your messages or follow you back. I am trying to do my best to discipline myself. I am trying to be consistent in posting article in my site once a week on the same day.

Yes you heard it right. Just once a week. I know maybe some will say that once a week is not enough. But it is the only frequency I can allocate for now while working full time job and doing the training here in WA.

Honestly I have the tendency to be distracted when I am on the internet. When I open my laptop or mobile phone my goal is to continue the training or write a post but when something came to my mind, I tend to entertain and get lost to my main objective especially when checking my emails.

When I started to open my email, I get carried away until everything is read especially emails from Wealthy Affiliate. I tried to read all your blogs, tried to answer every question, tried to reply to all your messages. But sometimes it takes my time to advance in the training. Am I spending too much time on this?

Unexpectedly, last Friday became my full time job day off. I checked my emails for the past 3 days and I was overwhelmed by the numbers. Wow for only 3 days I received such number of emails. This is because you guys are so active. As much as possible I wanted to read all your posts and messages. Imagine I spent my whole day just checking all my emails. After that whole day of being active my rank got higher. But am I doing the right thing? Am I not spending too much time on being active in the community?

Setting priority is key to allotting required time spent on activities. What is important for you and your family that is doable according to a sensible schedule.

Squeezing ourselves sometimes have great results like my wife showed that by nuking lemon a few seconds results in getting extra flavor from it not noticed using normal pressure.

But then extra pressure when the lemon has been squeezed and nuked does not necessarily result in more flavor added. The lemon disintegrates.

I am thinking about engaging the happy participation of others in my immediate circle to not only move this effort forward faster and more efficiently but helping others and spreading the goodies around... Let us see what happens.

Great move in letting folks know where you are Dan. Keep trucking.

Joe

Thanks Joe for the insight!

In our opinion, your first priority has to be your training and second your website. Then, with whatever time you have left, you can look at WA emails, blogs, etc.
We know, from our own personal experience, how easy it is to caught up in the whole WA thing and so we have now trained ourselves down to three, relatively brief (45 minutes max), sessions looking at emails and blogs each day. The rest of our time we spend on training and our website.
Remember, as your followers increase so will the emails and if you don't take control now then pretty soon it will be completely out of control.
Good luck.

Thank you C and P!
Thanks for the advice.

Stuart is right its very hard to keep up with E-mail, I hate to miss anyone how needs help, or is writing a blog which can be so helpful with the learning process. I do the best I can and apologize to anyone I miss.
Sandy

Thank you Sandy!
Yes Edwin is right.
Sometimes we need to select emails to read although it is unfair to some of our friends.
Otherwise we won't have time to continue our training and improve our website.

Another difficult question to answer, you may have read that I left my mails for just over a day and came back to over 300 from WA, like you I cannot cope with this amount, so I have got very selective in what I answer, it is a little unfair on some of our friends, but is it the only way that I can continue, if I wish to learn, improve my website and eventually try to earn some cash.

Keeping up with the community and our training is a challenge for us. We really need to know how to manage our time and set our priorities.

Because I have so little time I have to triage my emails and only check and reply to those that I feel are most relevant.

I think this is the only way for now. I know it is important to be active but it is a bit difficult for us who are working a full time job and just started the training.

Setting your priorities is very imprtant, and time management is a big part of that! Sounds like you have some good ideas !

I have spent a lot of time on WA and enjpy every minute of it! I read almost every blog , comment and question when I get started. But I have to keep even that under control because I have research and website work to do too!
I got to the top 100 at one point and didn't actually realize it. The ranking is really neat but not what it is about.
I like communicating.

I really think that if you stick with it, you will hit a home run !

Best of success friend !
Mike

Thank you for sharing your experience when you get started.
I'm glad I am doing it right. Balance is really needed.
Thank you for the encouragement.

HI Dan! Your goal is to build your website while learning here at WA, going through the training modules and live sessions, and working to create affiliate income. That is why you are here!

Rank in WA is nice, it means you are helpful and involved, but it does not make you money. Only involve yourself here when all your other goals for your business are achieved each day.

Once you are a seasoned Affiliate Marketer, you may have more time to be more social.

If you don't want to respond, I understand. I'd rather you be working on your website.

Press on . . .

Howard, very good advice.
Sandy

Thank you Howard for that good advice!
And reminding me of why I joined WA. All of us want to earn online. You are certainly right. I can help and share more if I am already a successful marketer.
